Can this be used for lip gloss making?

Not sure. Some colors seemed to have a little hint of flavor (for example beet).

How does this work/taste for icing color

I think it looks great, must dissolve in water first and then add. However the colors are pastel. If you add too much you will taste the vegetable that is creating the color.

About how many tablespoons are in each container? I’d like to know how long this will last, for coloring icing.

Definitely not a tablespoon; but they are dark powders and each little container has approximately 1/2 tablespoon.

Is this dye only for dyeing eggs or for icing as well?

According to package insert the directions are only for coloring eggs. It does not give any other uses.
