Lifegard Aquatics Lifegard Ultra Low Iron Glass Crystal Aquarium with Built-in Side Filter 45° Beveled Edge 4.1 Gallons, Clear

This is advertised as the side sump 14.2 gallon, but I was shipped the 5 gallon back-sump version. It’s a beautiful tank and it was packaged well, but it isn’t what is advertised.

THIS IS BEING USED A MY QUARANTINE TANK FOR MY SALTWATER TANK GREAT TANK!

First off, this is a beautiful tank with beautiful build quailty but it definitely has it's flaws and one of them is huge for me. I'll start with what I like. Low Iron Glass looks crystal clear. Nice beveled edges are clean and smooth, the 45 degree corners are very nicely done and look great. The wall dividing the display and filtration is tinted and the outside of the tank is vinyl wrapped around the filtration area. Included pump runs quiet as well. Now my biggest issue with this tank is that no where can you find dimensions for the filtraion area. I took a stab in the dark and even emailed the manufactorer with no luck. The filtration area is only 2-3/16" from the dividing wall to the back glass. This significantly reduces the equipment that will fit. Protein skimmer would be limited to a small air stone skimmer unless you modify the smallest of the pump fed skimmers. Upgrading the return pump is also significantly limited. Which means I will have to use a circulation pump in the display to get the flow I will need. I have also been unable to find any aftermarket media racks that fit the filtration areas dimensions. One other thing that bugs me is that the wall separating the display from the filtration area is made of glass which means that the over-flow cannot be modified, at least not easily. All in all I'll make it work the filtration area dimensions are just disappointing so I may end up running a sump filter later down the road in order to handle my filtration needs.

Wrong size, twice

First, the tank is beautiful. I have a few tanks and this one has the nicest build quality: beveled edges, glass divider, clear glass. Although I got the wrong size (7gal), I decided to keep it as I needed a quarantine tank. Now for the drawbacks: * The filter area is too small, which to me is an oversight since the typical mini skimmers do not fit. * Also, it took weeeeks to cycle until I purchased a gallon of fritz zyme 9 and dumped about 4 cups in. * Wrong size! Did I mention this is the wrong size? And I think I know why! The aquarium ships packs of 3 from the manufacturer, and Amazon then unpacks them and ships them out. So basically, you have a 1/3 chance of getting the 14 gallon. To summarize, beautiful tank, small filter area and wrong size.
