Chinese Han Jian Sword – Hand-Forged Damascus Steel Octahedron Red Blade, Full Tang Battle Ready with Rosewood Scabbard for Martial Arts & Collectors

I bought it on impulse and thought I would regret it later. I was wrong. This sword is awesome for the price. It fits comfortably in the hands, the construction feels solid, the pattern is red damascus, and it is frighteningly sharp. I am very happy with this purchase.

It's pretty sharp. Everything is tight and it appears to be well made. It looks just like the sword in the pictures.

I wanted to have a real Chinese sword just for fun...having watched way too many Chinese sword-fighting movies. When I read the description, I was doubtful that it would be made of real Damascus steel, at this price point. I went ahead and ordered anyway.It took quite a while to receive the sword which was shipped from China. It came in an unmarked carton box and the sword was in a cheap cloth bag, which I threw in the trash. The scabbard was made out of real wood and was fairly well made... pretty much like what was shown in the picture.The sword itself was fairly hefty and well made. The blades were cutting sharp but not razor sharp. It was quite obvious that the Damascus pattern was fake and painted on. There were several easy-to-spot blemishes on the painted pattern as well. These blemishes were disappointing, otherwise, the sword would have been beautiful, fake pattern or not. The steel appears to be strong (probably made out of high carbon steel) and can hold an edge. I sharpened the sword sharp enough to cut paper like a razor blade and it appeared to remain sharp. Since I use the sword for fun and display, I have not actually cut it with anything but thin sheets of paper.

its beautiful yet simplistic and a very real sword. i have been practicing European techniques with it the past few hours. imagine it having the feel of a lighter long sword or lighter katana with a great balance point and yes Han style swords have a round handle instead of oval (this is normal and historically accurate) but the cord wrapping and the guard itself have these how do i describe it indicators of where your hand should be for perfect blade alignment. and it came in way sooner then expected. amazon told me maybe by late November/December. but it came in after one week after ordering instead. truly amazing if your a western barbarian who appreciates the style of eastern flair this is definitely going to fill that niche. wall hanging art piece by day but sidearm for defending the castle at night XD "dragon born theme intensifies" and yes very much a durable cutter.
