Not a magic wand.
I have 2 Ruger Mark IIIs that I clean a lot, and this tool really helps. So why not 5 stars? First, the end of the tool that's supposed to help open the Mainspring latch doesn't fit into the groove on my gun. However, a paper clip works just as well. The tool does make it much easier to remove a sticky Mainspring, although you may still have to use a hammer. I thought I could do it with my hands using this tool, but I still need a hammer. The tool does make it easy to remove and replace the recoil spring, so that's nice. Again, using my bare hands I was not able to replace the mainspring assy, so again I just used a hammer without the tool. Most people have trouble reassembling the gun and the tool does help, but the tool is not a magic wand. If you're still having trouble go over to YouTube and check out the videos. Because of my Mark IIIs I keep a small plastic hammer in my gun bag. Whatever, don't be afraid of taking down your Ruger Mark .22. The videos, and a hammer, help a lot. ALWAYS make sure the gun is unloaded before you clean it and function check it when you finish. If the bolt won't pull back you'll have to remove and replace the Mainspring assy. Not a big deal.Update: Okay, looks like they make two different models and I got the wrong one. So, don't do that. If you do, you can make it fit by carving the end with a knife and a file. Worked for me.

Ruger Mark series all in one tool --- Get the stand too
Purchased this handy, functional tool and received it in a few days. It comes with detailed (with pictures) instruction sheets. I didn't order the stand and wish I would have. I initially used the tool on my new Ruger MarkIII 22/45 Lite with polymer lower and it worked great. Next I moved to my stubborn new Ruger MarkIII stainless steel Hunter version. This is where I needed the use of the stand, as this pistol is very, very tight and needs the use of 2 hands during the disassembly. I experienced a small issue with the tool and contacted the seller. He was very quick to respond to my issue and my need for a stand. Make sure you order the stand with this tool, as it will make the disassembly process much easier. As a side note....when using this tool and stand, you won't end up getting those scratches and nicks seen on so many Mark series pistols. As with any tool, you get what you pay for and this tool and stand are worth the investment.

Nice working tool
Following directions, be carful NOT to use for the extraction of the mainspring. It is easy to use in the initial opening of the mainspring, but to remove it from the gun use your hands. I tried to do this with the tool but being new guns it offered too much resistance and I received a replacement form the company within three days. They were very polite and understanding of my problem. Using the tool for reassembly was quick and easy. With a bit of practice this will make working these pistols a snap. They are a very good company to do business with.

Buy a nice needle nose pliers instead
I have a Ruger Mark III Target Pistol. I've put over 5000 rounds through it and it's still hard to disassemble. I bought this tool to make it easier, but it really doesn't help much. At first, I thought the loop for unlatching the mainspring housing didn't fit. I wound up using my needle nose to pry that out. I later discovered the last page of the instructions that explained how to use the tool on an oval shaped mainspring latch indent. The dowel for removing the mainspring pin was the only thing on the tool that worked well. Using the tool to manipulate the hammer is more difficult than using a needle nose. For roughly $25 with shipping, you could buy a nice long nose needle nose pliers that does everything this tool does and more. As with any steel tool, buy US or Japanese made unless you want to throw it away after one use.

All-in-one, where have you been hiding?
All I wanted for Christmas, well, and for my Ruger 22/45, too. Disassembling and reassembling my Ruger Mark III 22/45 would usually take me a couple of hours. My gun was so tight that I have had to take a plastic punch and rubber mallet to it every single time I wanted to clean it. I did not believe the claims made by the manufacturers but I had to try them out. I like gadgets that make one's life simpler or that are inventive. This one made me disassemble and reassemble my 22/45 in under four minutes (and no cursing or swearing and sweating.) I am so glad I took a gamble. It looks solid and I don't believe I'll need to buy a second one for just "in case". It delivers what it promises.

Every MKI/II/III owner should get this tool
With the help of a small mallet and this awesome tool, as well as the six minute video instructional video I disassembled a MkIII completely and reassembled it successfully. The seller/inventor of the tool has been extremely helpful, and I’ll absolutely recommend this product. It’s a bargain at twice the price and everybody who has been told how much fun and how accurate the Ruger .22 pistols are, but not how much of a pain to take apart and re-assemble, should get it, as well as this little mallet TEKTON 30812 Double-Faced Soft Mallet, 35 mm

Gadget that works.
One of those tools you can live without but once you use it on your Ruger it will be your go to tool for maintenance. Makes service a quick and easy task.
