Another good book.
Handy isn't much for conversation but he gets the job done. It will be interesting to read the next book and see if Lee and Handy ever become friends. Very intent western saga.

As the series progresses and the family is more comfortable with the west
Tell Cotten is a phenomenal storyteller. “Yancy” flows seamlessly with the other four books in the Landon Family Saga. As the series progresses and the family is more comfortable with the west, Cotton infuses a lightness of spirit of men living in the immediacy of the moment while accomplishing some quite weighty tasks. In “Yancy,” the brothers are faced with recovering a child that was taken when his parents were murdered. There’s an awareness of his living on borrowed time and the chance of recovery becoming more distant as time progresses. My 69-year-old father, is a huge Western novel fan and shared his thoughts with me after reading “Yancy.” He liked the short chapters. He found the story told in Yancy’s voice to be a quick read. He also liked that this novel especially was reminiscent of a production in which the great John Wayne may have played a role. He could easily see the Duke playing either Cooper or Yancy with Gary Cooper as the other brother. The quick and smart banter made the story easy to visualize. If you are a fan of western fiction, do not miss Tell Cotten and pick up “Yancy” and the rest of the Landon Family Saga today.

Very well done and fun to read but, it ended too fast and too soon.
Very. well done and fun to read but, it ended too fast and too soon. The span of time that it took for Yancy to go after the bandits at their camp and get back to the innocent campers and not hear the commotion or screams and/or shots toward the old Indian and the others was not true to the story in that no indication was given to explain Creed's expertise in tracking and killing other than he was fast and mean and sadistic-- and to sodomize his chosen victum as well was stretching it and ended too soon.

This is a very good western book.
For those readers of Robert Parker’s Cole and Hitch books, you’ll surely notice their blood brothers in Yancy and Cooper. Can you imagine the dialog between those 4 if they ever met up? Anyway, good job Tell.

Humor
I love Mr. Cotten's humor and interaction of his characters. A filmed Landon Series would make us forget The Lonesome Dove Series.“Every time I go up there,” Cooper explained, “I get shot.” “You getting superstitious?” “No. It’s bad luck to be superstitious ( Yancy p. 98).

There is a lot to like with this western - the series too. You need to read them all In order to get a total grasp of the story. Interesting reading.

Another great story by this author.
After an election, Yancy has been replaced as chief of police, then appointed as a Texas Ranger. His mission is to stop the gun trading with the Indians, bring a ruthlessly unscrupulous man down and finally, rescue a kidnapped boy. A lot going on in this story, but the author brings to life the characters, and offers plenty of action. The book has a lot of humorous comments and is very enjoyable to read. I look forward to the next book in the series, and I truly hope there is more to come!

Yancy
I rated this book at four because in a very few places it was a little stale. But the story line was spot on. They sounded like brothers. Only thing is the book on confessions of a gunfight would not download and the sixth book was not available. Makes no sense. But love the book and will look for more by the author. Oukalocka
