Cuisinox Stainless Steel Fondue Burner, 3.5" Wide

Works well for fondue!

I was getting sick of dealing with the Sterno cups of my old Fondue "burner" (just a cup to hold the can, no regulator), so I looked into this one. It has a nice regulator, you simply rotate it to open 3, 6 or none of the holes, with gradual changes inbetween. The burner can be filled with liquid fuel (I use denatured alcohol, found in hardware stores, as it burns the cleanest), pured into the mesh material of the inner cup. That cup can also be removed, and gel-type cans can be placed there instead. It fits perfectly with my cast-iron type fondue pot.

It works properly; however, the two parts come apart easily. They do not lock together correctly. I wouldn’t buy it again and would recommend it only with reservations.

Made of fairly thin stainless steel and expensive for what it is. There's a removable insert you use for liquid fuel, or you can burn the paste if you take the insert out and set it aside. The air shutter has three holes open when you push the lever to the stop to the right and six holes open when you push it to the left, and so you have to center it to close everything. The grid on the top of the insert is made of thin stainless steel. Similar ones I've had in the past lasted for maybe 25 meals.

This works exactly as expected. I've improvised using Sterno gel and it worked like a charm. It is certainly good value for money.

Not only did the fondue burner not come with a burner cover piece as shown in the photos provided by CUISINOX, the burner didn't have the black handle, which you'll want since burners like this get hot to the touch when lit. See the attached photo for what I received. The metal making up the burner was very thin and bendable. I was expecting the stainless steel metal to be thicker. Also, it was shipped loose in a plastic bag. I was surprised that the burner didn't get damaged or at least bent in shipping.

The burner replaces the one that came with the fondue pot I bought thirty years ago. It's a perfect fit.

A bit expensive but well built

I use gelled fuel and when our family of 4 had a meat fondue dinner, we ran out of gelled fuel after about 40 minutes. Being that you cannot refill a hot burner with more fuel, I decided to buy an extra burner. After measuring my current burner and base, I felt this would fit given the measurements on Amazon. It fit perfectly. In fact it appears to be of better quality than the burner that came with my fondue kit. Highly recommended.
