Is the inside of the lid stainless steel?

No - it is not. There are plastic parts within the lid (the hinge). No big deal right - well, yeah, except my kettle has a totally rusted lid and rim. (see my review). If it was 100% stainless steel, that wouldn't exist. Maybe that's not an issue for you - but at least be aware that what you're purchasing is not 100% stainless steel, despite what others may say.

How loud is the boiling cycle? Is it quieter than those that are not insulated? Tx

It doesn't really make much noise until it is almost finished, then not much more than the sound of boiling water.

Is there supposed to be a hole between the two screws at the top of the interior?

The hole at the top of the kettle allows steam to reach the Strix controller and shut the kettle off when the water reaches a full boil.
