Ended up using significant portions of this book for helping third graders write an opinion piece.

This is a thorough book for teaching opinion writing. I'd highly recommend it. It also goes right along with Lucy Calkins' Units of Study.

I wanted a book filled with images that kids could look at, inference the scenario, and write their own opinion. Instead, this book has text written all over the pictures. The pictures, aren't very engaging nor do they leave any information to the imagination. Lastly, the text is terrible! The author suggests her own thoughts/questions as well as gives pointers for how to write an opinion essay. It's not even completely thought out on how to write a complete essay. As an educator, I'm very disappointed with this book.

If you're teacing primary children how to write an opinion piece, this is the book for you. Its a wonderful lead in to writing the final opinion piece.
