American Fishing Wire

The value of any tool is the use. If it works in the application you apply it to, the tool is excellent. Due to a nerve disorder in my hands, I cannot tie knots in small lines. My terminal tackle requires I use sleeves and easily make working crimps.I have had a problem over many years finding a tool which would successfully compress fishing line crimping sleeves. Having had many pairs of fishing pliers, all of which were found to be deficient, I was looking at a pair of $21.95 crimping pliers. I saw the $5.99 pair and took a chance. I have plenty of pliers which will cut line, grab hooks from mouths, turn nuts, and such, even mash crimps flat, but no tool which will easily make a crimp round and able to hold the line within it.These $5.99 pliers have slots for large and small sleeves, produce a round crimp, holding the line without weakening it. They do the job I want, I rate them a "5."

I've had one of these for years for home to make up my leaders but needed another one to keep on the boat for leader repair. I wanted the exact same one as I had at home cause I was very pleased with it. So I did and I'm very pleased with the quality of it.

Cutter section leaves much to be desired but they eventually work.

I love these these are my second pair use them for audio installments great size and works perfect.

Very well made, heavy and the cutter really works well. Love these for closing crimp sleeves when you don't have to use the big heavy two-handed crimpers.

I have the two larger sizes and they were a little better quality and the jaws were more aligned. These jaws are offset enough that it prevents as high a quality a crimp. Would have returned them but I doubt I would do too much better. What can you expect for Chinese made and $5.99?

Works well! Bought a bigger crimper than I needed due to arthritic hands. Exceededs expectations.

First time needing a crimper and these looked good. I have strong hands and these things hurt you hands badly when you try to compress them. My fault for not researching more but these get the job done but i would NOT recommend them at all. Seems like quality but thr handles are just too small and narrow.

I used this crimping tool in combination with AFW stainless steel wire and the AFW brand single barrel crimping sleeves of the recommended size for the wire in question. I used them to make wire fishing leaders for big freshwater species and am happy to report that the combination has worked flawlessly with no issues to report thus far. I would recommend this tool to anyone for use on AFW product. I have no experience with cross branded applications thus far so I can’t comment on that. It just seems prudent to me that using the tool made by the manufacturer that also makes all the other components of the leader is your best assurance that you won’t lose the potential catch of a lifetime mixing and matching items from different brands.
