the whole trick is finding where to put them....as others have said, you place just before the metatarsal heads, not directly beneath them.. you can practice where it should go on your shoe by pushing one up underneath your foot (aligning an edge parallel to metatarsals but further inward) and seeing if it makes the 'knuckles' spread. and the idea another had to put underneath the insole of the shoe is brilliant b/c it will protect insert from wear and make the upside of the insole perfectly smooth. have tried hapad ones but they are too narrow to do the job well. my podiatrist gave me disposable samples of this configuration and this was a perfect size and shape match and more durable.

If you need metatarsal pads, I recommend these with a caveat: They're thicker than is really comfortable for me. Others might disagree. I couldn't find thinner pads on the market, but need these to front load my foot to help with bunions. Seller is excellent and so is product. I'm able to get two days wear from one pad.

These are ok and they do what I need them to do. The only issue I have is that they are flat pads and not beveled as shown in the picture. I don't really care since they still work, but what you see is not what you get. I will probably order different ones next time.

I also ordered the one that has M3 written on the sticker backside. Dr. Jill's sticks WAYYYY more longer, the padding is thicker even though it was same 1/4.

I have foot pain related to a callous on the ball of my right foot. I bought these because they are the same pad my podiatrist uses. I trimmed each down a bit on the edges just as he does. It works perfectly. Note the pad is not applied to the calloused area itself but below it, allowing me to bypass the painful area as I walk. My doc adhered the pad to the bottom of the innersole of my shoe, NOT to my foot. I need several pads on hand as I have several pairs of shoes. Sometimes the innersole of one shoe will also fit several other shoes. True comfort at last!

Helps take pressure off my pad in my foot. Recommended by my doctor. A godsend!!
