Guide to Chainsaw use
I received the greenhorn's guide to chainsaws and read it from start to finish. I keep it by my chainsaw's for review when needed. It was very informative and I used the information in it to by my chainsaw's and my chainsaw sharpener. With the knowledge from the book I bought the right saw's and chains that I needed as I had lots of dead and dying trees on my farm. With my two boys we cut and split over 6 cords of wood, which I will use for heating next year. By the way I purchased a 16" and 20" Stihl saw's. They worked great until the large one hit barb wire in one of the large tree's. With the electric sharpener the chains were easy to resharpen. The book gave me the information on type of wood that is best to burn, and information on how to sharpen the chains.Roger

Chainsaws 101 for those with or without a clue.
Well written book by an author who obviously has experience with chainsaws. He explains lays out all the variables involved in the selection of a chainsaw without telling you what chainsaw you should get, all while teaching you the use of the tool as well. Great job on writing a guide that told me how to select, use, and maintain a chainsaw.

A book written from experience
Very good little book - straight to the point. Chapters include:• Choosing a Chainsaw• Chainsaw Use• Chainsaw Maintenance• Chain Purchasing and Sharpening• Best Woods for the Woodpile• Firewood SpittingInformative for the beginner, with good tips on which trees to cut, which way they might fall and which ones to leave alone and let a professional do the job. I enjoyed it and have added it to my permanent library for future reference.

Not enough detail for the complete beginner
I've never used a chainsaw before; I want to start by being able to go out into my woodlot and cut up deadfall but I don't feel like it gave me nearly enough practical info about actually handling a saw and working with it to do so safely. The text could also be better organized--a lot of terminology is introduced without definition and more emphasis on what could go wrong than on how to do things right. Also seems to assume that the reader is male.

Worth the price
Worth the price I paid, but I was expecting something more when I reached the end. I would like to read a sequel book for firewood business operators.

A Great Gift!
This was a gift for my husband whose hobby is now searching and cutting up firewood for our outdoor burner. He already knew a lot of things in the book, but he does still read it! A great gift at a great price for your manly man!!

Straight to the point
Simple and straightforward guide. Learned a lot about chainsaw maintenance, that I probably should have taken some time to learn sooner. Gained a good understanding of the different types of chains available and why one should choose a particular one

Guide to chainsaws/ Firewood
Excellent book full of useful information on how to use a chainsaw.Having used most tools I am a little apprehensive about using a chainsaw . But after reading this book and following the information / tips plus the safety information I feel less apprehensive about using the saw. Plus also a little common sense will go along way.If you're planning on buying a chainsaw get some safety information first / this book will help.
