A filter adapter ring that works as advertised.
This is a story of getting cheap at the wrong time. This is the fourth filter adapter I bought for the Canon SX50. At last, I found one that fits! The first one I bought was the Bower FA-DC67A adapter for $8.92. This is a plastic adapter and is advertised to fit the Canon SX50. It snapped on tightly and broke after a short period of time. Next I tried the Fotasy SX50 Essential accessory kit for $13.90. This included a lens cap, which I like, by the way, and am still using. But the filter is slightly too small and after a short period of time, also snapped. I wasn't rough or careless with it; I just put it on the camera and left it there. It broke while sitting in my camera bag. Then I thought I would look for a metal filter adapter because it surely would not break. So I bought the Generic 67mm adapter ring for Canon Powershot SX50. This one cost me $13.99. It's metal so I thought, at last a filter adapter ring that will not break. No, it didn't break. It also didn't fit. It was oh-so-close to fitting. To date I spent $42 for filter adapters that broke and/or didn't fit because I didn't want to spend $28.95 for the Canon brand plastic filter. At last I relented and sprang the $28.95 for the Canon brand filter. It fits perfectly. So here is my cautionary tale. Don't waste your money on the off-brands. They may fit on the other Canon models but do not fit on the SX50. Just bite the bullet and overpay for the Canon product. Yes, it is expensive for what it is. But it really does fit. And if you heed my advice, you will not end up wasting and additional $42 for products that do not work.

A "must have" for SX series cameras!
I purchased this filter adapter to go with a new Canon SX40 HS. This camera replaced my old SX10 IS. While this adapter was designed to install on both of these cameras, I had opted to thread the lens tube to accept 52mm filters on my SX10. While this threading option is free and allows for more widely available (and cheaper) filters, the risk of damaging the camera was great and photos taken in wide angles will have some vignetting. The best option is to get this special adapter. It is actually a step-up ring that uses Canon's proprietary accessory socket on one side and a standard 67mm thread on the other. While the 67mm filters are a bit more expensive and not as widely available as 52mm, this is by far the best option. Two things to keep in mind with this adapter... Stock Canon hoods cannot be used in conjunction with this adapter as they both use the same accessory socket. The other thing? This filter ring seriously widens the lens tube, which not only looks a little funny, it also causes the camera to rest on the adapter (or filter) when sitting on a flat surface (consider auto-off when sitting on a table and the lens retracting). Still, I highly recommend it!

Adapter ring STUCK Problem
Adapter ring is original Canon product and fits right. Does the job. Adapter ring mounts quickly. Although more expensive than other brands I didnt want to skimp on my camera accessories. I bought extra rings because I read that the filters sometimes get stuck on adapter ring and are hard to remove. So I have an adapter ring for the two filters I use most and the filters can be installed easily in the field.Update... Concerning the adapter ring and filters getting stuck together. The problem is that when you grip the ring and filter and squeeze and turn trying to seperate them, the weaker plastic adapter ring distorts making it impossible to turn. The solution is to place the two in the palms of both hands flat like your making a hamburger and twist both hands in opposite directions. It is amazing how easily they turn and come apart. It was driving me crazy and I experimented several times re attaching them and doing so very easily but they still stick together. The method described above worked every time.

Good Fit and Works Really Well
I really like the Canon FA-2DDC67A filter adapter. It fits really well on my SX50 HS lens. Initially, it was a little hard to seat the adapter. But, once I realized what part of the adapter needed to be lined up with the lens rim, it was quite easy to attach. Not only do you need to line up the adapter, but you also need to push it down a little bit, then give it a twist until the adapter locks in place. While the materials of the adapter seem to be sturdy, it's a pretty thin piece. So, I would suggest being pretty gentle with it and not forcing anything. The package that the adapter comes shipped in contains instructions (mainly just pictures), but I found that the pictures were easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this adapter for people with the specified Canon Powershot SX series cameras. .

Lens filter. The lens filter will help you to protect your very valuable Canon camera lens from dirt and scratches.Just be sure to get a high quality lens filter. Don't worry, after 300-400 shots later I've found the filter won't produce any noise, color &/or image distortion on your shots. If for any reason you decide not to use the filter, it's easy to unscrew it from your camera lens. Also, please remember not to screw the lens filter to this adapter tightly.
