Streamlight 69110 TLR-1 300-Lumen Weapon Mounted Light with Rail Locating Keys for Glock Style, 1913 Picatinny, S&W 99/TSW, and Beretta 90two, Black

Bought this light to go onto a new pistol I had acquired with a rail. The multiple keys, lumens of output, and strobe feature were what drew me to the product. Streamlight has a good reputation as a quality manufacturer and I have some experience with some of their hand-held flashlights, so I figured this was pretty much a no-brainer.The details of this product are defined in its description and in many reviews before mine, so no point in beating a dead horse. Let me try to illuminate a couple of basic things that may or may not affect you: opening the battery compartment is pretty easy, now, with the new latch. You just pull/push it all the way until it goes about 180 degrees and the thing pops open all on its own. I suppose this is a new design compared to the many complaints about tight latches from before. First time I've had one of these, so I can't really say. The multiple keys are nice, in case you have multiple weapons with rails that you're trying to attach this thing to and hadn't planned ahead. Really, one should just try to have all of the same rail so these are more easily switched in any case.Unfortunately for me, I didn't look into this particular thing when I bought this. I bought a 1911 pistol that basically uses an STI frame, which uses some kind of slightly odd size rail. It seems to fit the glock key, but not well, as the glock key seems a bit tall. I had made the assumption, incorrectly, that the rail was a 1913 rail. This was entirely my fault, not Streamlight's, but I would like to see more than the four keys that seem to be available for this thing. A few small adjustments to this glock key should get me straightened out, as it currently will not sit on my pistol for longer than a few shots.I would have preferred a more solid mounting for the rail, in general, rather than the quick-on/off idea that seems to be behind this type of rail. I'd rather have to pry it off with a couple of tools and be sure its on there than be able to switch it around a lot... and that would be my only real source of discontent with this product.The strobe works pretty easily, though what actual tactical effect it might have is theoretical to me. I just bought this for the higher lumens of output compared to the standard TLR-1 and figured if it was useful, it would be nice to have, but wouldn't hurt me too much either way since I wouldn't be depending on it. Bought this for my night-stand pistol, and there are a few nice holsters that will fit the 1911 + TLR-1 combo well if you're inclined that way. I bought one just to have one and in case it is ever allowed as a duty weapon. I'd say I'm pretty happy with it, and as soon as I figure out this rail fit thing, I'm sure I'll get rid of that one little dissatisfaction as well. Overall, can't knock the product, just make sure your rail will fit one of the keys.*********************************************************Okay, so I've now owned this thing for awhile. Today is 11/13/13.The light is still going strong. My previous problem with the quick attach/detach option was that the light didn't fit that pistol correctly. I have since put it on a CZ SP-01 using the 1913 rail key. You are supposed to use a coin or most anything wide and flat to tighten the locking mechanism all the way. When the key actually fits, and you do this, the light stays on there all day. I haven't had it move since I figured this basic thing out and got less stubborn about it sitting on my odd-ball pistol rail.I highly recommend this as a weapon light. It works great. The few extra bucks for the extra lumens of light seem worth it. The strobe isn't easy to leave on in the constant mode, but works well in the temporary mode, which I gather is the most desirable use. It was neat to play with, but I don't see the point for your average person. Upgraded my review to 5 stars.

The Streamlight TLR-1s is worth the money, enough said. At first I was hesitant about spending the money on a gun light, but after returning a more inferior product I shelled out the money and bought this one. As soon as I opened the package I knew I had made the right choice, this product is built to last. I use a Streamlight hard hat light at work and I have a flashlight by them that I use at work also. I like how both products have a very bright light and this gun light is no exception, the 300 lumens is more than enough to lighten up a dark room or blind an intruder. The strobe feature is nice but I don’t think I’ll ever use it. If there is ever an intruder in my house at night the light is enough to temporarily blind them and give you the advantage.I mounted the TLR-1s on my HK USP .40 S&W full size using an NcStar rail adapter and it fits like a glove. The previous light I purchased and returned was an AIM tactical, and although a decent light and very good value, it had about a 1mm play in it. This was because of its design using the quick release. The TLR-1s comes with a few different inserts that will custom fit the rail on your gun. After finding the insert that fit the NcStar, and replacing it in the Streamlight bracket, I attached the TLR-1s and there is no play what so ever. The on/off switch is also another reason I purchased this light. The switch for the AIM was under the light which made turning it on awkward, I could have trained on it and got used to it but with the play in the mount I was willing to pay more for the Streamlight. The TLR-1s has an on/off switch that can be operated by the left or right index finger during the draw or while the gun is drawn. I’m left handed so pushing the lever switch up turns it on, middle is off, and down is on while depressed. For right-handed shooters this order is opposite down being on, so on and so on. I think this caters for right-handed shooters since downward is a more natural motion.Finally the TLR-1s is built with quality and can feel it when you hold it. I have to believe it’s completely water proof by how tight the battery door seals. I don’t like spending money on something just for the name and couldn’t understand how a flashlight could be worth $100+ dollars. But now that I have received the TLR-1s I can see it’s a quality light, worth the money paid, and it will last a lifetime. If I ever need it, I feel comfortable enough to rely on it in a life or death situation.

So, this streamlight is perfect for my gun. I have a Mossberg 500 Flex Tactical shotgun. The forend (pump) already has picatinny rails on both sides and on the bottom. This comes with four different mounting pieces and the directions were clear as to which one to use (the picatinny one for my gun). I put that piece in and unscrewed the mounting screw on the side to loosen it, and it then widens with a spring action so it can snap right on the gun. I then tightened that side screw down and bam. Done deal. It fist perfect. I put it all the way to the front to the front of the clips are flush with the fron of the picatinny rails on my forend. I put it on the bottom so I can work the light with my left hand thumb while holding the pump (forend). This light's on/off is really cool. It is a toggle switch where if I push it one way the light comes on and it springs back. If I push it the other way, it "clicks" on and stays on. I love this feature. Also if you tap the toggle twice to turn it on either temorarily or fixed, it strobes. I turned out the lights at night and this is VERY bright in my bedroom. Very blinding too. Anyone giving this a bad review either couldn't figure out the directions for putting the batteries in, or put this on the wrong rail/wrong part of the gun. As for me this light is exact. As for putting batteries in, there is a clip, then the door comes off by putting some pressure on a spring that levers the door off of the light so you can put the batteries in. I read reviews about having to bend pins and whatnot. That is not necessary and is simply breaking the thing. It is made to be levered off once the clip is undone. And it comes right off where the tabs fit in. Just give it the right leverage, the best way to describe it is like a steel watch clasp. It is actually super nice and snaps on watertight. This light rocks.
