The Church of Christ

A great apologetic book that reads like a math proof. Very clearly laid out with an eye toward logic and arguments. Terrific content with appropriate tables and graphs. One criticism, this book could have benefitted from an index or PDF made available upon purchase for looking things up and cross-referencing.

The Church that Christ built is identified in the New Testament and nothing is added to or taken from His written Word. Men have established "churches" according to "their" standards and the very last thing in the scriptures is a warning as to what will happen to those who do that. Adding to or taking from what is the written WILL of GOD is bringing damnation to themselves and those who practice other than HIS word.I wanted to see if this book had any derogatory input .

This is an excellent book!!! If you think you are a Christian read this book to be positive you’re in THE church. There’s a pattern. Are you confident you KNOW what that pattern is? The book tells you straight up by using God’s Word, and not human opinions.

A good over view of the basic structure of the church of Christ from the the first century till now the church remains the model set forth by our Savior Jesus Christ. The fact it is nondenominational and each church is independent lead by the elders. The book is a good example of what and why of attending the church. The use of quotes from leaders in the church is enlightening.

This is perhaps the most succinct exposition of the church seen in the New Testament. Thoroughly biblical in His approach, Ed Wharton shows that the church, and the faith, is distinctively identifiable and purely objective in nature. He helps us move our own faith away from the fleeting subjective realm of feelings and emotions and onto the objective truths of Scripture and promises of God.

Great book written by a great man. You half to study it, reading the passiges sited, not just readung it to get the full depth of this book. Having been thought by Ed at school he uses the phrase church of christ to mean the church is Christ's possession.

Faith in Christ as the Son of Sod with power to raise the dead is the ground upon which the church of Christ came into existence on Pentecost and upon which the church exists today.

We are really enjoying using this in our Sunday Morning Adult Class. It is easy to understand and very well written.
