I was expecting a cheap flimsy thing, but this is a pretty substatial little mat. It's very soft and squishy. My cat is very sensitive toward textures she touches and I've had to get rid of previous mats because she refused to eat on them if her paws had to touch them (I know, diva) but this one she has no problem standing on. The print is really nice too, it's not fuzzy or muddy.
