5-Channel Class D Car Audio Amplifier
B**T
One word, CLEAN.
Clean sound, clean installation, clean wiring, clean transaction.I bought the MRX-V70 to eliminate the need for multiple amplifiers and provide clean sound, and after one month, I am very happy with the result. I installed this in a 1995 Chevy Tahoe (2 Door), matted to an Alpine 7875 head unit, and am running Alpine Type-X 6.5 components in the front, Type-R 5.25's in the rear, and 1 Type-R 12" Sub. The V70 could not have been a more perfect match for these speakers. The amp I received was rated at 99x4, and 373w x1 which nails the RMS of my speakers. Now, I am not one for the blow your ear drums setup (though this setup so far can go louder than I can stand without distortion), I simply wanted complete range and tone that's loud enough to drown out my engine and exhaust mods when I want it to. This does the job, again, perfectly. As for the installation, the amp itself is very small, so I had many options of where to install it. I ended up installing it under my front driver's seat using the pre-cut carpet holes for the power seat with with wires sharing the power seat control wire covers, and because of this, it is impossible to know that there is anything installed other than the head unit. Additionally, because this is a single class D amp, I found that the power draw is incredibly low compared (actually, to even a single amp I ran before from Fosgate let alone) the setup I had before.Shipping and delivery were speedy, and the price was unbeaten throughout my shopping around.

2ND TIME SENDING BACK TO ALPINE FOR REPAIR
First off, I bought this amp from RG Electrinics on Amazon. It was advertised as used but in like new condition. The amp arrived dead. I would not trust RG Electronics for another transaction because they were not reasonable with helping me with the dead amp. Second, I expect better reliability from Alpine. Amps should be more durable than this. Granted, I don't know the history of the amp, but seeing that other people have had issues with this amp makes me suspicious. I've owned my current amp for 15 years and it still works fine.Update: I had the amp repaired by Alpine for $70. Alpine gave me a 3-month warranty on their work. I used the amp for 2.5 months before it failed again. I am only driving 4 infinity speakers at about 1/3 volume 99% of the time. No subwoofer has been hooked up. There is no reason this amp should be failing. Get the JL amp instead!!

Okay.
Was okay but kept getting alternator hum, I know it could be wiring issues, too close to power wire, etc. Rather than try to find the problem and save my back in the process I decided to get the Kicker IX1000.5 which does a fantastic job at reducing sound issues with feedback. The Kicker is more expensive but sounds much fuller and its isolated inputs reduce interference, check it out.

Alpine quality
Installed in my Goldwing 1800 with 4 high output J&M Spears and two 8in JL Audio subwoofers. Plenty of power. No issues to date. Amp gets hot but has not shutdown yet.

must revise this review-This amp is great
The Alpine name was always synonymous with quality and reliability, this plus many positive reviews was the reason i purchased this item as the core of my music system first, partly because it was the most expensive part. So after much sacrifice i finally installed the amp at a professional installer on Saturday. It sounded great at low levels, i raised the volume and it promptly tripped and went into protection mode. We troubleshooted the amp in so much as we tried a different amp which worked well and the technician said it was definitely a problem with the amplifier. i contacted the seller who stated he only had a 30 day return policy which is long gone. So i am now stuck trying to get it repaired because the authorized dealer in Trinidad no longer holds the franchise. Long story short, don't buy this amp without getting it tested and install it as soon as possible. This is a sad indictment on the Alpine nameFollow up. It turns out that nothing was wrong with the amp but rather a Audio Control line converter that was sending too high a signal but because Alpine customer interface is so sucky I only found out through trial and error. I am now using a Stinger line converter and the amp is really performing well. It is not going to win SPL competitions but the sound quality is quite good.

Died after seven months
This amplifier immolated itself after seven months of very light use; it was just powering the normal car speakers, no sub-woofer or anything. Since I bought it from a third-party seller on Amazon, Alpine won't honor the warranty on it.

Has been working great for 2 years
Has been working great for 2 years. Overload protection kicks-in a little easy, but usually only when it's cold.

Lots of power in a small package
This amp is great. This was the second one of these I had purchased, the first had some issues with the sub channel. Now that I have a properly working unit (the first was replaced right away including return shipping) this thing works great. It was easy to install, I was looking for something that would fit in the factory location which this did. The sound quality is very good, no alternator whine, distortion or other noise. In my car there is a click when you turn the car off that is audible but I think that is being caused by the deck powering down before the amp.
