Solid build. Quality sound. Good value
Solid construction. Value pricing from Amazon. Easy set up and operation. The volume control is conviently located on the side of the cabinet. The pro sub 800 should have enough power and low end to please most gaming and AVS users. Works well in small or average size living spaces.I am using two ps 800's in my audio system. The results are satisfying. Not so much in the bottom end although there is more bass. The imaging and soundstage is noticibly more defined with greater depth. I am using these with NAD 316 bee v2 amp, SVS Ultra Bookshelves on 24" stands and a Topping E30 DAC all purchased through Amazon. This system is audiophile quality. One quick note. The bass can get too boomy if you overdrive the volume level on the 8" woofer. Placement and tailoring the output level is key to good performance. Amazon offers a return policy so try one or two out at home and decide. If your room is large and open or you want the floor and walls to rumble consider looking into a larger unit.

Just one word to describe this woofer. IMPRESSIVE
I bought this woofer to replace a non amplified Bose woofer I blew. And what a difference in quality of sound! I have a room that is approximately 16’x 16’ that is mainly my music room and I was always impressed with the sets of speakers I have set up. The one set of speakers have 12” woofers built in and have great sound and great lows but the bass does not really kick in unless I crank up the volume ( which I normally do) but after purchasing this 8” powered subwoofer it amazed me how well it filled the room with the mods and lows I didn’t realize my system needed and what really impressed me was at lower volumes how it just pops and at higher volumes pops even more. The sound out my system I always thought was great but after purchasing this subwoofer now my stereo system is awesome. I didn’t realize how much this speaker would improve the sound quality. I know pops is not the right word to use when describing a speaker. This sub is clean crisp and just impressive! The only problem I have is I need to move it further away from my stereo cabinet because it makes my needle on my turntable jump around when listening to my albums.

Like Gold!
So I started with a $150.00 subwoofer (private label through Circuit city). It was rated a 4.8 out of 5 so I gave it shot. Everbody said "great sub for the money". Well it was just that, it was extremely muddy sounding. Then I went to a Klipsh Synergy 10" for $280 through Best Buy. Again great reviews, plus it was $120 off the $399 retail. Much clearer in sound, great power and fills the room BUT the sub had terrible definition for bass guitar. Sooo I finally just stepped it up and spent the extra buck (and came across a deal) to go to the Definitive Tech ProSub 800. WOW what a difference! Not only did the bass rolloff like a waterfall but the definition was perfection. The funniest thing is that this has to be the SMALLEST, MOST, POWERFUL sub on the market. Everything I saw was obnoxious in size...this thing is so small! So if you aren't able to hide your sub behind anything, this unit can easily be out in the open and not be a distraction. My sub is paired up with(2) ProMontior 800 front speakers and Yamaha V663 receiver. I also had (2) existing in-wall Jamo speakers for surround. All together the system sounds phenomonal for music...plus its all so small and clean looking. I have an open concept space (vaulted ceiling and loft). Combo great room and dining room is about 525 sq. ft and the sound radiants thougout the space.I was lucky enough to get this ProSub with minor cosmetic damage on Amazon for $299. After hearing and seeing it, I would highly recommend this sub for $399, personally I think they could get away with $499 since it offers premium bass definition in such a industry leading small size.

Great little sub, so far
I've only had this for a little under a day, but I'm pretty impressed by the sound from this tiny little sub. It's replacing a Mirage NanoSub that suddenly died. I realize that this sub hasn't had time to properly get broken in, so I'll probably update this if my experience changes later on.It's stunning that such deep bass comes from such a tiny sub. Even after seeing the dimensions in the product description, I was still just a bit surprised by it's size. It's considerably smaller than it's predecessor which was not exactly a big sub either.I should also mention that the layout of that back panel on mine is different than what is on Amazon's picture. The various knobs and hook-ups are moved. The most notable difference, though, is that mine has a power switch next to the power cord connection. The only things missing is a switch to turn it from always on to auto power off. I've always left mine on auto mode anyways, so that isn't really an issue for me, but some people might want it.On the sound front, this thing does very well. Compared to my other, the bass just seems more detailed and precise. Initially it didn't seem that it integrated well with my system. The bass seemed completely separate from the other sounds - it didn't fit in, but after around 6 hours of near continuous play this has worked itself out. The ProSub is front firing with a bottom firing passive radiator, so you can imagine my surprise at how much more I can feel this bass shaking the floor than I could with the other which is a downward firing sub with a front facing port. The only area that the Prosub falls a little is in the volume dept. It may loosen up in time, and room placement can make a big difference. I have the volume up at around 2/3-3/4 to fit with the sound from the sound system. I am by no means someone who likes to rock heavy bass, but I do like to be able to feel it a little. I start getting a little nervous when I have to push things up near their max.Two other things. 1: the crossover knob apparently only does anything if you use the speaker wire inputs into the sub. If you use the LFE RCA plug to hook to a receiver, the crossover is controlled by the receiver and not the knob on the sub. 2: They make a big deal in the manual about how any defects, bumps, blemishes, etc. are the result of abuse during shipping and not something they would allow out of the factory...to the point that they say something to the effect of you should report the delivery company if it doesn't arrive in flawless condition. Well, mine has one foot that didn't get screwed down completely tight. I'm pretty sure that wasn't rough handling, but a miss by the QC people at Definitive. Doesn't seem to affect anything, but they did make a big deal.

Sounds great for the price
Perfect for my smallish room. Great sub for the price I paid. Only small annoyance was that the sticker placed on top of the unit (which points out where the volume knob is! Really?!) is stuck on with a glue that took major effort to remove even using solvents.
