exceptional
i own probably about a dozen cases from pelican from small to large as well as a storm case and i have owned but returned one of those italian cases from plaber or whatever they're called but nothing comes close to the quality of this nannuk.the latches are HUGE and at the same time smooth as butter ! the case is cavernous yet light ! but it is still strong enough for everything except driving a car over it.if you are buying a case to drive cars over it get a pelican - and suffer with a heavy case and stiff latches that are almost deafening when you do manage to snap them shut. to open a pelican case you will typically need to stand on it to take pressure off latches - either that or just break your fingers trying to open them.nanuk latches by comparison it's like switching from a WW2 era tractor to a brand new mercedes - so impossibly luxurious it makes you wonder why would anybody buy a pelican ? i know i never will buy a pelican again that's for sure !one downside is the lid is quite flexible - when you close it you can see it flex and this may create issues with water tightness of a seal - so again - if you plan on using your laptop case as a flotation device maybe pelican is better.basically pelican is great for some kind of scenario where you're jumping out of a helicopter and into a waterfall with it which is probably good for marketing but the way you actually use these cases Nanuk is far superior because it's lighter, it looks better and the latches are simply the best.my Storm case also has nice latches - 10 times better than pelican - but the Nanuk latch is still twice as good as the storm latches.basically the case itself is about the same quality between Pelican, Storm and Nanuk but the quality of latches i would rate as follows. Pelican - 2 out of 10. Storm - 6 out of 10. Nanuk - 8 out of 10.only reason i don't give Nanuk latch 10 out of 10 is because it doesn't look as strong as Pelican latch, though perhaps stronger than Storm latch.what i don't like about Storm latches is they are so flat it's hard to find the release. Pelican latch of course has no release at all - it's just brute force - your fingers versus the latch. the Nanuk latch is as smooth as the Storm latch but it's also sculpted in such a way that makes it really easy to find the release just by feel and as a result you can open it without looking or thinking and in half the time - it also seems stronger than the Storm latch.anyway this is the best case you can buy right now IMO. i also prefer the feel of the resin on this case as well - it is smoother, more flexible and luxurious feeling than Pelican resin which feels very rough and inflexible.basically Nanuk = Mercedes. Storm = Acura. Pelican = 20 year old Chevy.

Sturdy and reliable
I haven't been too aggressive with this case, but I own other Nanuk cases that have proven to be reliable (I have a Nanuk case for my DJI Phantom that I've checked through TSA before. If it can survive TSA and baggage handling then it's pretty tough). This case is very spacious, very deep, including two thick layers of foam. The lid also includes a few extra inches itself for items with a little more bulk. It just perfectly fits what I bought to store in it. Eventually I'm going to custom cut the foam for the item I have in it rather than using the pluck and pull squares. The rubberized handle is nice when you have to carry it longer distances. I'm not a huge fan of the clasps, but it's not a deal breaker in any way. The reason I don't like them is if you have an item in the case that's bulkier it might push the lid up just enough that when you release the clasp you still need to push down on the lid so the clasp will actually let go of the lid. It's just a minor annoyance since it requires an extra step to actually open the case after opening the clasps.Overall, Nanuk provides a great product at a competitive price. I'm sure this won't be the last Nanuk product I buy.

As good as it gets
As a person of curiosity, I am always examining and testing new products, looking for ways to make good ideas better; and I can almost always find some feature that could be tweaked or improved. However, this one has me conceding defeat. Over the years I have used a number of products [Haliburton, Pelican, Etc] to protect some very valuable photographic equipment on the job or on the road. It is my personal experience, that for function and value, there is nothing out there that can compete with the design, application and durability of these Nanuk cases. PERIOD! End of story.

Made in Canada
The Good:1. Made in Canada.2. Lots of room inside if there is no foam.3. Secure clamp points to clamp a Nanuk shoulder strap to it.4. Holes for locks.5. Waterproof (I have not tested if it is).6. This is probably the biggest you would want for a carry-on size when traveling. Anything bigger would be considered the size of a small suitcase. The Bad:1. A bit expensive but much cheaper if you buy it without foam. You can probably find other ways to make a tight fit on your case. perhaps bubblewrap, or clothes if you are traveling. Conclusion:I didnt know that Nanook is Inuit for "polar bear'. That is what was on the small booklet that came inside the case. Interesting. I suppose that makes sense because the cases are meant to be strong and waterproof also (bears can swim). If there you ever have a chance of being stuck in the rain while holding a carry-on that has electronics, books, or thother things that cannot get wet, then this would make a good purchase for you in my opinion.

Better design details at almost half the cost.
I was looking for a specific size case and found 3 from different manufacture's close to the size but none exact. Ended up purchasing 3, due to the size difference. One cost $54, another $85~ and another $150. The sizes were different only by an inch or two in width, length and depth. The best constructed and durable were the $84 and $150 with the largest being the $85~ (this one). This one ($85~) was the best design with the best latches that self locked to prevent accidental opening. Simple to unlock with double hinged latch. In addition, the $85~ (this one) came with a one inch foam attached to the lid and base as apposed to the $150 only to the lid. The $85~ came with two main foam inserts with pre cut pop out squares which allows two layer design while still having a one inch cushion remaining in the lid and base. The $150 came with only one main foam which when squares were removed to accommodate equipment, left no cushion in the base. Bottom line: The Nanuk 930-1001 had more forward design thought put into it than did the more expensive one even though the more expensive one is a known brand. In addition, the Nanuk 930-1001 was almost half the cost.

Very happy with purchase
Well made. It's built like a tank. The foam is difficult to remove, but I think that'll be good in the long run as the foam I left in it should hold together. I was fine with price because of the quality. And it's made in Canada which is great.

SOLID Case with
Love this case! I purchased this to carry all my cooking and baking supplies for my part-time culinary course. Originally I wanted to get the smaller 920, but this one was on sale for an amazing price (especially because it included the padded dividers) so I scooped it up for about $130. Plus, the brand has gotten amazing reviews and it felt good buying a Canadian brand. The case is extremely sturdy. I love the PowerClaw Latching System... very secure. The soft-grip handle makes it comfortable to carry. The re-positional padded dividers are perfect to organize all my knives, whisks, spoons and other kitchen gadgets. The removable foam top keeps everything packed in nicely. If I wanted I can even take that part out and have some extra space in the lid to store my chef's uniform. The weight is lighter than I thought it would be (considering the sturdiness of it), but for it's size and what I'm carrying inside, it's manageable traveling from home to class with it.Always get compliments with this case. I love how professional it looks. I will definitely buy from Nanuk again for their other types of cases (might need one in the future for my DSLR camera)! Indispensable pour protéger son équipements
C’est la valise de transport idéal pour protéger les équipements photos. La mousse de protection protège les équipements des chocs et des vibrations et le boîtier est étanche. Hautement recommandé.

You need it
Purchased for transporting expensive work equipment. Solid case, great aesthetics and comes with a good amount of foam. Carving out the foam is a bit of a pain but patience will overcome.

High quality but lid organizer takes space
High quality. The best. Lid organizer takes a lot of thickness though. Hard to stuff medium lenses upright
