Both Good and Terrible
My goal is to point out the pro's and con's of this grill after extensive experience on it. My wife purchased this grill for me for fathers day. I'm an experienced griller and have cooked on highend grills and smokers and done some competitions "back in the day" and was thrilled when it arrived! The Good: This hood, burners, frame, grilling grates, ignitor and grease tray on this grill are excellent. It's in line with the other high end grills that you would pay the same or more for. I have no complaints in these areas. It's the quality that I'd expect when paying this much for a grill. Second, the sear burner on the right hand side has double burners and allows you to char a steak perfectly. This was one of my favorite things about this grill as we order our steaks and have them drop shipped. Being able to cook a nice wagyu steak is something that's important to us and this gets the job done. Of course, it will char anything that you need charred and isn't just relegated to steaks. The Bad: Structural wise, the knobs and the lettering around the knobs is a joke. The knobs feel flimsy and the lettering will begin to peel off within the first couple of cleanings and, yes, that's with following the proper cleaning methods. Second, this grill is a fire hazard. For a grill of this price, I can tell you that it doesn't matter if you clean it after every use, if you put anything fatty on it (think cooking 8 to 10 hand made hamburgers), it WILL flare up and you cannot leave it unattended. The ease with which this grill will flare up is UNACCEPTABLE and RIDICULOUS. I believe the fire hazard this grill creates is due to a poor "less than creative" design of the heat deflectors that go over the ignitors and the inability of this grill's design to keep the inevitable grease that will form away from the burners. Grease directly exposed to flames will almost always result in a fire. If the main food that you grill is burgers or other fatty meats, then you should take a hard pass and look elsewhere or you'll be disappointed. There's other options that are better suited for that and that won't have you on the brink of calling the fire department when you flip your burgers. If you plan to cook steak, chicken, pork chops, salmon and other foods with less fat is where this grill shines and does an incredible job.
