The very first one I picked up from TJMaxx and even though it was soooo simple, I couldn't resist it just because it was so simple. It was "yes yes, no, no" book. The illustrations were so funny that I was giggling myself all the way to check out. Now I am adding up some more books written by her. They are all very simple but so very adorable and have very simple illustrations that are very easy for a toddler to understand. I would recommend them all to any new mom. Review: Yummy Yucky - This is one of my son’s favourite books. It helps them to understand the difference between edible and inedible things around them. Not forgetting great for reading with its large print and colour pictures

Comes in a bag 👎🏻
The book is great but Amazon 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 for ruining all new books by shipping them in bags!

Fun book with great pictures that your little one will love!!
My little one loves all the books by Leslie Patricelli. They are short, simple books that capture his attention. They all follow the same format with a picture on each page, with one type of item on the left page (in this case "Yummy") and a contrasting item on the right hand page (in this case the "Yucky"). The last two pages of each book always contain various example of each type of item (see photos for example: "More yummy things" and "More yucky things"). So if your little one likes the format of this book, you have many other similar books to choose from (ie "BIG little", Quiet LOUD", etc). The build quality of the book is excellent and withstands attempts at tearing and throwing. The pages are made of a board that is the thickness of about a quarter (see photos). I know some others reviewers don't like that Boogers, Earwax and other items in this book but we actually found that some of the examples in this book specifically apply to Yucky items we are trying to teach our little one to stay away from like Garbage and Dog Food....which he always makes a bee line for when we aren't looking! The pictures are not only fun for kids, but adults as well. You'll have a blast reading this with your little one :-)

Great for my little kiddo!
This was such a good book for my 3-month old. It's very basic, with bright colors and bold pictures. A nice "opposites" concept. I will note that it does not necessarily portray healthy foods as yummy and unhealthy foods as yucky. (Sure, the unhealthy foods are yummy, but some parents may not want to get the book if they're only wanting to promote healthy eating habits.) I will definitely be getting Leslie Patricelli's other books. UPDATE: I've seen others' reviews on how horrible the author's choices for "yummy" and "yucky" are. While some of the choices may be questionable, this presents an opportunity for parents to do something called parenting and interject their own family values. The author cannot make a book perfect for vegetarians, health nuts, food allergies, "bad" words like boogers, and people who drink coffee and eat spicy food. (You can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time, especially when some people are so petty.) Parents can use this as a teaching moment for their kids. For example, "chocolate sauce is yummy, but we only have it for very special occasions. some babies think hot sauce is yucky, but mommy and daddy let you try it." I may not like all of the choices, but I think the book is good enough to keep and build upon. If the controversy does anything, it opens the door for discussion.

Yummy YUCKY May Be Disturbing For Sensitive Toddlers
I may have traumatized my granddaughter with Yummy YUCKY! She's never been a tot who put everything in her mouth, not one of those kiddos who would eat dog food or rocks. She started the book looking interested in the spaghetti but the look on her face changed to horror when baby was eating worms. On to blueberries, where she reclaimed her balance, for a moment. Blue crayons, she was more interested in trying to scrape the blue off baby's teeth. When we turned the page again she pretty much tuned out all the good foods just to stare at all the inappropriate items baby kept shoving in his mouth. She babbled away in her baby speak but I swear she was saying, "Why? Why are you putting all those nasty things in your mouth?" Soap, sand, coffee, all got the same response, and then came hot sauce and the fire breathing baby...that was it, Yummy YUCKY was set aside. She did go back to it, but she has to hold the book herself and she has some pages that she skips. Toddlers aren't able to tell fact from fiction, nor cartoons from photographs as far as content of the picture. I wish I'd thought of that before we read this book. Yummy YUCKY, is not a bad book, and it might even be great for those little ones who have to taste everything. My granddaughter is a little sensitive and maybe a bit of a drama queen. Things that usually aren't important when reading a board book! I still think this is a good book for little ones who have a tendency to eat things they shouldn't. Toddlers learn so much more than letters and words from books that are well written and illustrated! I will knock off one star for the fire breathing baby, I think that picture may be too much for a lot of toddlers.

Helpful book to show what is "yucky" versus "yummy"
I bought this book because my toddler wanted to eat sand in sandboxes and there is a page that says "sand is yucky!" Well it worked! My toddler stopped eating sand because "it's yucky!" It's a cute book and my toddler has it memorized and reads it back to me. At the end it has a bunch of pictures of what is yummy and yucky. I couldn't get her to eat chicken until she saw that this book said chicken was yummy.

loves to reverse them for fun
Somehow my toddler thinks it's fun to reverse the yummy and yucky thing, like blueberries are yucky, blue crayons are yummy lol

知人に勧められて購入し、ヘビーローテーションに仲間入りした名作。 Yummy!

My son loves these books! All of them! The illustrations are simple and fun...my son seems to find it easy to point things out. At 10 months he would point to the cat and try to kiss it. At 11 months he'd point to the happy baby (the yummy foods) and say "yum yum". Now at 1year he can point out the yellow flower in the mud pie hahaha! It's been a great learning tool!
