Complete String Quartets (Dover Chamber Music Scores)

Not the most practical to play from as there are many page turns and not at the most convenient points in the music. There are no measure numbers, but if there were it would be great for seeing what your quartet-mates are playing when you are playing your part.In the very first piece, K80, there was a typo of what is supposed to be A# (accidental) that is not marked with the accidental / #. So if I hadn't had the Barenreiter edition, I would not have known for sure, although in a way it is obvious (I just don't naturally assume others are wrong and I am right.) And I have only gone through that first one to mark measure numbers and try to play from this book, so I'm not sure how many mistakes there are in the rest of the book, but that was page 1.The Barenreiters are beautiful, but expensive. This is so inexpensive (the used one I bought was anyway) but not the most practical. Maybe look for an in-between, with seperate parts for ease of use, and either measure numbers or rehearsal letters for ease of group coordination. It is very frustrating otherwise if you have to stop and fix something and everyone has to count every time.

Amazing Resource
I bought this book years ago while studying counterpoint in college and became utterly fascinated with it. A few years ago I realized I didn't have it anymore; I'd loaned it out and it went un-returned. Luckily, I found it still in print and available here on Amazon. As Moz scored his first quartet at age 14 and his last at 34, this book-- with it's chronological presentation-- offers fascinating insight into his growth as a composer. I frequently pull various passages from the scores and share them with my students. Additionally, this book is constructed properly... both volumes I've owned have worn quite well. Good stuff!

Thank heaven for Dover scores. They are life savers. It's just a shame that measure are not numbered and there are no rehearsal letters or numbers. I'm prone to miscounting sometimes which makes for interesting quartet rehearsals. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars.

Excellent!
Clearly printed, great binding, and correct. I haven't found any misprints. Using it for an analysis class. Mozart's string quartets set a precedent in his time, and themes and ideas were pulled from them throughout time, even during the romantic era one can easily find string quartets with rhythmic motives and harmonic similarities to Mozart!

Mozart could certainly write splendid string quartets, and here they are! At a very minimal price. Perfect for handing to a solo and ensemble judge where pdf's from IMSLP are verboten.

Great to have all M's quartet's in one place
Great to have all M's quartet's in one place. If it's sold along with select parts, it would be even greater.

Kindle Edition is unusable
The Kindle Edition is unusable due to very poor print quality. I have many Dover scores in print - and they are all terrific and useful. Stick to the print version!

Buchdeckel sehr dünn
Die Buchdeckel ist relativ dünn, so dass das Buch schnell zu Wölbungen und Knickstellen kommt. Ansonsten sehr gut
