Columbia Sportswear Women's Global Adventure II Dress

I know that's a lot to say, but this dress packed into the size of a notepad (and I'm talking size XL). It's a nylon-y kind of fabric, very thin, very light. The straps are wide, the armhole are cut high enough but not so high that they're cutting, hides a bra perfectly. There's even a little hidden zip pocket on the seam. Not sure that's something I'll use much, but I bet it will come in handy at the beach! This is a preliminary review as I haven't yet worn it in the heat and humidity I plan to, but so far, so good, and it feels great on the skin.I guess the fabric could be considered a bit "sporty" for true "little black dress" wear, but I plan on giving it a shot this summer!Editing this to say I've now worn it a few times in the heat and it's really great. I will consider buying it in another color, but the black is perfect. I wore it to a dinner party last weekend and while I worried that it was a little too sporty, it turned out great with the addition of some chunky jewelry. Very dress-up/dress-down-able.

This dress was ok, but not super cute and had several problems. 1. I think it must be pinned in the back on the model, because on me it had no waist and looked boxy, like a potato sack. 2. My deodorant got all over the armpits of the dress (they are very close fitting), and after laundering the dress in the sink with Woolite (I was travelling) the deodorant wouldn't come out and left white marks. 3. This dress runs LARGE. I am a size 8 and got a Medium, I felt like I was swimming in it (except for the armpits).Pros: It was definitely cool in the very hot weather I wore it in

I gave only 3 stars because of the way the dress fits me - I am very short-waisted so I get some puckering in the back due to the fitted waistline of the dress. I really like the fabric and the ease of care. The dress looks great on the hanger just not so much on me. I am keeping it, though, because it packs light and I can throw a shrug or jacket over it. It dresses up or down depending on the occasion so for that reason & its quick dry time is the perfect travel dress.

Not a flattering fit. Definitely has the Columbia style and feel. Well made but not a "cute dress."

Looked like I was wearing a bag. This dress had absolutely no shape. I'm an athletic build and I seriously would rather wear a burlap sack with arm holes. This was a fail. I sent it back.

I'm 5'1, size 12, D cup and I ordered a large. It fits perfectly, I didn't have any gapping in the armholes, it's a little below my knees so I'll probably turn up the hem once. Love the color, the pocket, the fabric. Really soft and not too clingy, but not too baggy (I'm chubby... I mean curvy). I can't wait to wear this on my cruise. Now if I can find a good Kindle book I'll be set.

I love the fit of this dress. Tried it on in store and then ordered online as it was cheaper. Really love the feel of the fabric - feels wonderful on and so light weight.
