Expert Tutor-Approved!
These are an essential learning tool for any 4th or 5th grader, and for some 3rd and 6th graders, too. I have been an educator my whole career, and I specialize in preparing children for the ISEE/SSAT and/or other standardized exams at this level. I also work with children to support their regular academic work, whether it's common core or a different curriculum. Any 4th or 5th grader is working with fractions and decimals, and these are perfect for helping them make real sense of the concepts. I often start by handing a student the 1/2 cube, and then asking the student to find me as many other examples of fractions that are equivalent. The student will line up the various pieces and show me 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, and 6/12. Then we will talk about what it might be if we had fraction cubes of 14ths or 20ths to show that any fraction equivalent to 1/2 has the relationship of the numerator being half the denominator. When adding and subtracting mixed numbers, and when converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, it's really helpful to have 2 sets of these, so you can show numbers that go above 1. Kids like handling the cubes, as they are colorful and interlocking, and even when they are just "playing" with them, they are likely still learning. A thorough understanding of fractions and decimals is so critical to learning percentages and other harder concepts in 6th grade, and these cubes are perfect for securing these foundational topics.

Loved these! Would only make one addition.
Am happy I picked these up when they briefly were on sale on Prime Day. These are great! A perfect visual and tactile representation of fractions and decimals - easy to compare with each other and get a better grasp on a too-often difficult to understand concept. The only thing I would add to the 1 column: 1 represented as a fraction (1/1). This is important so students understand that even whole numbers can be written in fraction form for when they move into mixed numbers and further, into making whole numbers into fractions to solve more complicated arithmetic. Not a deal breaker though! Easy enough just to write it on there with a sharpie. Would definitely purchase again.

Great for teaching fractions, decimals, and percents!
I tutor math for grades K-12, but have noticed a major deficiency in most children's knowledge of fractions, decimals, and percents. I already own the Learning Resources Deluxe Fraction Tower, but I bought these to help youth who were struggling with converting fractions to percents or decimals. So far, it's been a hit! I love that they are built to teach all the aspects of the base ten number system, such as unit fractions (fractions that equal one). How 10% is the same as 1/10 and .1. The kids love that they are colorful and stick together like legos! In fact, my five year old son has a great time dumping all of these out of the package and trying to see what kinds of things he can build with them. This has given me some great opportunities to introduce fractions to him, without him knowing that he's learning. (A parent's dream!) I would highly recommend these for any setting: home, classroom, tutor, homeschool, etc.

Learning Resources LER2509 Learning Resources Fraction Tower Activity Se
This set has been such a huge tool to help with doing our math concepts. We use a math program that has something similar that comes with it but I much prefer this set so we use these instead. These are sturdy snap together cubes that give dimension to hard to grasp math concepts and for some of my kidsit has been so much easier for them using this set and once they mastered the ideas they have been doing great with other concepts. There are 51 high quality cubes with clear markings and a teachers guide comes with in this set.Would highly recommend to anyone who is struggling. I also like how this set has grown with our kids. Bought it when they were in 1st and have used it all the way up through 5th so far to help guide them as they learn each new concept.

great for math and corresponds with other product
We are a homeschooling family that likes to take a hands on approach as often as possible. I bought these because my 1st grader is just starting to work with fractions. When she had them out working with them yesterday, my high schooler wanted to play with them also. They do exactly what you would expect them to do. They are small/hand size. If you were in a classroom setting they would be great for individual students to use at their desk. One thing that really impressed me is that the colors of the bars match up to the colors of the same fractions of this circle fraction set Learning Resources - Rainbow Fraction Deluxe Circles, Math Manipulatives, For Grades 1 and Up which we purchased at the same time. The whole 1 on both is red, 1/2 is pink, 1/3 is orange and so on. This made it very easy to talk about and match up fractions for 1st grader. There are to many fractions for this to be an accident. I'm really glad I purchased them together. We will be using this math tool and it's corresponding circle set for many years to come.Another reviewer said their set didn't include the decimals or percents. Mine does, maybe they just got a set that didn't make it all the way through the print cycle.

Great Learning Tool, & They don't know they are learning!! score!
I bought these last yr for my Kindergarten curriculum to help with wholes, halves & quarters, and we have actually used them in money too, to explain in a different visual way, how 4 quarters equal a dollar, etc etc... I figured Id save the "rest" for 1st grade, What i didn't expect was how much my 6 year old loved them, he asked lots of questions, wanted to "build" each equal set. and went "farther" with learning with them, because they are "Building toys" in his mind, than I expected. My almost 4yr old loved them too, and now at just turning 4 she has surprised us with whole & half questions on things from "playing" with them with her brother, they are an excellent quality product, well made, well printed, easy to read & were easy for little 3 hands to get apart & together, BEST part has to be how much they have learned & will learn from them & How much we have been able to use them for all kinds of "reinforcement lessons"
