Prayer Bible Study Participant's Guide: Six Sessions on Our Relationship with God (Groupware Small Group Edition)

Good or bad, I'm probably biased because Philip and I were in school together. However, this book, like the many books Philip has written before, explores an aspect of belief normally left untouched or unanswered. Philip writes as most people think and expresses those thoughts carefully and logically. He does not give you answers but rather makes you realize the answers for yourself.If you want a practical guide to the meaning and effect of prayer explored through Philip's eyes and those of others he uses as reference, this is the book you should read.

In some ways this did not go along with the video. It seemed that they book, video and participant's guide were going different directions. Questions were thought provoking, however. I recommend for any group wanting to study the subject. They will find plenty to discuss.

We did this as a Bible study at my church . We had a borrowed copy of the related Leader's Guide and DVD. We all thoroughly enjoyed Yancey's unique approach. In one of the sessions he uses a visualization to guide the prayer in an ever widening stream (think mountain stream) which I still find myself using at times.

Our adult Sunday School class used this study of prayer and we were very satisfied. There was more than enough material for discussion and it was easy to lead. The video is essential to make a group setting work. Tackles the tough questions about prayer with good Biblical references.

Much more material than we covered in our summer Bible study group, looking forward to spending more time in this book.

This small group study is very thought-provoking and has helped me to have a closer relationship with God through a more active and honest prayer life.

The DVD that this goes with is excellent. For many participants the cost of this would be prohibitive and most people probably wouldn't use it anyway. It does have value for group leaders
