Well, that's a pretty vague question - but yes, if you take vitamin D3, you MUST take vitamin K2 with it. D3 "soaks up" calcium, but doesn't put it in the right places always, so a lot goes into arteries instead of bones. My wife and I take 5,000 IU of D3 daily, and 400mg of vitamin K2. If you're confused about the K vitamins - vitamin K1 is the blood-clotting side, K2 is the calcium-directing side. If this product is not, the Biotech Pharmacal - D3-5 (5,000 Iu) - 250 Count has stated that it is certified halal. It's the one I take and is available on amazon.

How big are these pills? I have trouble swallowing large pills.

the gel caps are about 3/8" long by 1/4" thick--quite small. They are "football-shaped," which also helps them go down easily, and gel caps are always easier to swallow than coated pills (at least for me). I have a friend who also has troubles swallowing large pills, and she takes these and is perfectly fine with them.

No, the NOW (tm) brand of vitamin D3 is made from lanolin (derived from sheep's wool), according to the label on my bottle, and is in a bovine gelcap. This product does increase lab results for Vitamin D3, which means it does work, but it is not at all vegan.
