Winner Takes All: Seven-and-a-half principles for winning bids, tenders and proposals

Commercial asset
In this book, the author terms face to face client presentations as 'beauty parades.' He describes tendering as both a 'high energy experience' and a 'competitive influencing campaign,' whereby 'individual presenters transcend their own content.' In light of this, the book is most suited to those with a commercial mindset working in a commercial environment. It does contain bits of general useful information but portions of it would be considered contrived or cringeworthy in sectors that prioritise people over profit. This is not a complaint. The book is called 'Winner takes all' and you get what you pay for.

One of my favourite reads this year!
Ok, so maybe I’m a bit dull ;) Seriously though, this book is so engaging and compelling which is a tough ask in what is a pretty niche and maybe slightly dry subject. Scott’s extensive and relevant experience makes for a credible approach and by viewing things through a different lens, the result is a set of effective methodologies rather than a boring and detailed process or step-by-step guide. I’d definitely recommend this if you produce bid responses or run an organisation with teams who win business through competitive bidding processes.

Amazing book for bid and proposal professionals!
I really enjoyed this book. I was given it by my colleague and have found it so eye-opening.It's the first book in a long time that I've looked forward to reading on my commute. So many great tips, stories and examples of successes and failures within the proposal industry.I hope you decide to write a follow up someday!
