I drive a 2dr VW GTI. I have Focal component speakers front and back powered by an Alpine amp. The Focal Bomba is mounted in the trunk. Just had everything installed this past weekend. They guys at my stereo store were blown away. The all said they had never heard an 8" sub sound anything like the Focal. This set up is perfect for the acoustics in my GTI. I literally have the best sounding car stereo I have ever heard. I could not be more pleased.

I got a great deal on it from an online retail site used for a little under $300 so thought I’d give it a shot. I have used sealed, ported, and bandpass subs before, usually jbl or jl. I opted for this unit because it draws less amps and has a smaller fuse than some of its plug and play counterparts, and I don’t want to stress my vehicles hybrid battery system. All in all, this subwoofer is amazing. I haven’t owned a product from focal before but this one lives up to the reputation. It’s not as high output as some of the high sensitivity ported Harman products I’ve used, but it’s not fair to expect it to be at 150 watts. It’s output is impressive for the size of the unit, it almost defies physics as I didn’t think something of this footprint could move enough air to compete with my expectations. In terms of sound quality it’s responsive and “musical,” absolutely no way would I guess it’s a bandpass design, the peak resonance frequencies at tuning points don’t stand out and it’s performance across the frequency spectrum is fairly consistent. I’m not sure if I’ll adapt to a little less SPL but the quality of this unit for its size and specs is unrivaled.

Bella presenza. Il rivestimento è di qualità sia nei materiali che nelle finiture. Il pannello laterale è ben strutturato. Ha ingressi hi-level quindi è perfetto anche per le sorgenti originali. I potenziometri per i controlli sono a filo: non hanno manopole esterne e possono essere settati con un classico cacciavite. A livello di controlli è ben dotato. L'ho settato tutto al 50 con fase a 0 perché lo controllo direttamente dalla sorgente ed è la soluzione migliore per ottenere il massimo sulla resa finale. I suoi bassi sono puliti e pure ad alto volume, non soffia come altri sub infatti, il rumore dell'aria in uscita è praticamente inesistente. Il suo peso e la robustezza della struttura fa intendere il livello di qualità complessiva.
