Cole Porter -- The Platinum Collection: The Definitive Songbook (Piano/Vocal/Chords) (Faber Edition: Platinum Collection)

This music just brings me back to my mother singing these songs while I played the piano for her. This was just the beginning of my love of tin pan alley music.

the music is wonderful

This is a great music book with some of his most favorite classics but I must admit I'm attached to the Delovely songs. The scores are not for beginners but fun to play in his own jazzy style.

I would not call the collection "Definitive", if you are getting such obscurities as ""Mr. and Mrs. Fitch" or "I Happen to Like New York", but you are missing "All of You", "All Through the Night", "At Long Last Love", "Do I Love You?", "Ev'rything I Love", "I Concentrate on You", "Ridin' High", and "Why Shouldn't I?" ... too many important items are not there, so I will have to return this book and look elsewhere.

This book is actually produced by Faber Music, and I'm not sure what their relationship is with Alfred Publishing. I have a lot of Alfred piano music and this doesn't really stack up.The main problem is that the piano staves have been scaled down to about 75% of normal size, and the lines are now so faint that they are difficult to read. The book is also bound with a solid glued spine so it will not lay flat. I would consider having this rebound as a spiral book.The arrangements seem reasonably good. Great book of Mr Porters music. Used it for a study I did for my local Music Club.

nice collection of porters songs....easy to read.Cole Porter wrote so many tunes that it was hard to pick out just one book.

Contains 50 songs... Possibly the best value single-volume book of Cole Porter songs, although you will ultimately need to buy more books to get all of Cole's great songs in your library! Contents as written by thes over reviewer, lots I knew and some new ones too. I really like the arrangements, vocal line is contained in the piano par but is also scored separately. Chords are accurate and complete too. I would suggest difficulty is about 5 fror some, maybe up to 7 but soooo delicious its worth some effort.The only thing that could be improved would be the tight binding that is a nightmare on music stand. I do wish all music books were ringbound...Nether the less, well worth buying
