These are great wiring harnesses but THIS WILL NOT FIT A 2016 TOYOTA TACOMA (neither will the Hopkins universal #55999), my 2016 Tacoma has brake and turn signals sent along separate wires. A powered converter module is required to safeguard the vehicle's wiring and to provide enough power for the trailer lights. In my case I needed a "Curt" C56282.

Easy installation...
I bought this version to replace the old Hopkins version that was in my 1995 Toyota T100 pickup. The old one lasted for almost 20 years before failing in a mysterious manner - left turn indicator on dash stayed on when the parking lights of headlights were turned on. Then, a few weeks later, a short in the wiring or control box kept blowing a fuse to the dash lights making it difficult to see speed, etc. at night. Unfortunately, that same fuse controlled the rear tail lights so the back end of the truck was dark. Nevertheless, if the new one lasts as long as the old one, I will consider both of them a bargain. Looks like the new one has been improved in the controller case and a reduction by one in the number of wires to one side. Same functionality and same ease of installation as the original.

Hopkins Wiring Kit for Tacoma
I have a 2006 Tacoma and needed a wiring kit for a trailer. I researched and found the Hopkins kit, read many great reviews, and decided to order. Just after ordering it, I looked on YouTube using the search words of 'Tacoma Trailer Wiring' and watched a three minute video... which made the installation look super easy. The kit arrived very quickly - thank you Amazon! I then installed this kit in about 20 minutes (I wanted to be very neat with the wiring). No splicing just remove six bolts, remove tail lights, unplug two lighting connectors, lay out the harness, plug in four lighting connectors (two on each side), test the lights, add several wire ties (kit came with two ties but I used about eight), reinstall tail lights, and replace six bolts - project completed!

Unusable out of package
Came unusable out of the package. Had to repair before I could use or install. Another online order that came broken, damaged or otherwise in need of repair before being usable. Luckily years of automotive knowledge I know how to work with these connectors, but shouldn't have had to. I don't know if repair worked yet, haven't hooked up to a trailer. Will be demanding a replacement if repair unsuccessful.

Works but extremely tight fit....
Harness does plug in easily, however it is barely long enough to go from taillight to taillight, making the connection so tight that when i have to change a taillight bulb i will have to disconnect the harness just to pull the taillight Assembly out far enough to get to the bulbs. The wiring is different than other harnesses i have used before. There is no seperate ground wire to attach to the car and there is only one green wire that goes to the right side, but it seems to work correctly. It still would have been nice to have even an extra 6 inches of wiring though 10 or 12 inches would have been even better.

A breeze to install
Very easy installation. It took longer to tape and secure the wiring than it did to actually install it. take out the tail lamps, unplug them, plug in the harness ends after threading them up from the bottom and you are ready to reinstall the tail lights. All you do then is to secure the wiring to the original wiring and to the hitch itself and you are ready to light your utility or boat trailer. If this products is as durable as it is easy to install, it will be a great value. I've already hooked it to my trailer for a test and it passes with flying colors.
