Important Reminder
As a former teacher, I wanted to better understand past history. Knowing what happened in the past is so important, and even though I thought I had 'done my homework', seeing this map was a wake-up call. I wish all classrooms had this. It seems like all current discussion of racial inequities relates to what is termed 'people of color', but somehow it seems to begin with slavery and overlook the very origins of this country. Maybe the shame is too great
