Have Courage, Be Kind: The Tale of Cinderella Hardcover – January 27, 2015

Sweet is the only way to describe this book. Start to finish, it’s just the sweetest story and in the best way! The characters are either absolutely endearing or just repulsive. There’s not really an in between. I absolutely would recommend this book if you’re looking to read the Cinderella story again. Be sure to splurge for the hard copy because the illustrations are beautiful and the paper quality is stellar.

This book is perfect for anyone who enjoyed the movie. It stays true to the movie while adding a little more depth to the story and its characters (mainly Ella and Kit). It goes back and forth between Ella's and Kit's perspectives, and it really gives the reader a better sense of the thoughts and emotions the characters were experiencing in each scene that a movie can't really do. I would definitely recommend it for that reason. There are also very nice illustrations throughout the book that add a really nice touch.All in all, I think this would be a great book for children and adults alike! It will definitely hold you over until the movie comes out on DVD, and even then I can see myself wanting to pick this book back up and re-read it every once in a while!

Bought this when it first came out awhile ago for my daughter. She was 7 at the time and we read out of this book every night. She's a good reader and I loved that there were words on every page that she didn't know. It expanded her vocabulary and she became a much better reader. She's 9 years old now and I still catch her reading this book again every few months. Most people like libraries but I love buying books to add to her collection. A good book is a good book no matter how many times you've read it

This is a cute book. Personally I like the movie better but that's just because it literally pointed out some very good lessons from the fairy tale Cinderella that I had never considered before (as I used to hate the tale). The book didn't write it out like the movie. The overall story was cute I liked how they had the Prince narrate for a bit. Often times the Prince never gets any screen time and you have to wonder "what if he's not that great..." no problem with this story though, as the reader gets to know the prince as well as Cinderella. I loved the relationship between Cinderella and her father. Often in Cinderella stories, the father is painted as a coward. In this story though, he is simply not aware. Cinderella doesn't tell him all her woes as not to upset him. And he's gone half the time due to the step mother buying too much. I also liked the contrast between Cinderella and the stepmother. Often the stepmother is someone who has no heart and came out of the womb scowling every which way. In this novel, it is shown that the stepmother once did have a heart and loved deeply. But unlike Cinderella, she became bitter after the death of her husband. Cinderella grew better after the death of her mother. It's also interesting to see how kind and generous Cinderella is and how mean her sisters are. They're sarcastic and just plain old rude. It makes one think "am I more like Cinderella or her stepsisters?" One problem though, Cinderella is a little too nice. I mean I get that she would get kicked out of the house if she stood up to her stepmother, but I felt like she should've told her father, who obviously would've cared. But then again that's more of a problem with the tale than with the actual book. Also some of her philosophies I didn't necessarily agree with. But it wasn't that big of a deal. The illustrations are gorgeous and I LOVE the last picture, it's just splendid! Basically it's a cute book.

This book is like the 2015 movie but more magical, while I was reading it took me to the magical world of Cinderella, it was amazing, it was sooo good that I’m glad I added it to my collection

I received the book in great condition. I am really into all the Cinderella stuff since the movie which I just pre-ordered. I have always been a fan of Cinderella. There was no problem and I highly enjoy it. I think it would be great for a little girl to have to add to her ever growing book collection.

My tween absolutely adored the new Live-Action Cinderella movie, which we saw when it first came out in theatres. To hold her of until the bluray came out, I ordered this book. She devoured it quickly and has read it again, since. She informed me that the book has a lot more detail on Prince Kit, and she liked that insight. We both love the wonderful message of "Have Courage, Be Kind" !

Beautiful, sturdy binding, glossy pages, longer than I thought it would be! The drawings are charming, and the story adds to the film, fleshing out some missing bits. Very nice for children or adults who love the story, film, or both.
