This makes a TON of food. A cup of the crumble expands when you rehydrate it. A bag this big will last a long time, and it's great that it's shelf-stable.It's not seasoned and has a mild flavor. That makes it versatile since you can season it to suit whatever dish you're making.Prep is an extremely simple 1:1 ratio of hot water to product. Just mix, let sit, and drain if needed. I prep it in a glass storage container, eliminating cleanup.I saw another review complaining about the serving size being a tablespoon, whereas comparable products do serving sizes of a cup or so. There are 16 tbsp in a cup, so do the math and figure out a comparable serving size shortcut if you'd like. This is way more protein-rich per serving than the alternatives I've eaten the past.

So easy to use! I'm thrilled to order from a small business in my home state. Grab a scoop and add water or veggie boullion for a great flavor. I use it to make meatloaf, tacos, sloppy joes, add it to chili. Use it anywhere you'd use hamburger. (but you need to add other things to it if you're going to make hamburgers with it).

this stuff is great, easier to use than I thought. I had gone to the Asian specialty store to buy TVP, and they didn't have it. i'm guessing because they want you to buy the products instead of be inspired to make your own. I heated some hot water in the microwave until it's almost boiling hot, and added a bunch of this, covered with plastic. It becomes like meat or ground crumble. I mixed it with some teriyaki sauce and use a protein addition to dishes. I never really used this type of product before, and had hopes for it but didn't know how it works. No, not for livestock. EASY PEASY! Now maybe I can have a better attempt at making veggie burgers, and will look at some other products they have.

Taste is good but the pieces are too small for my needs. I wanted to use them in “stoups” but they are too tiny for my preference.

Def with the price. Great protein. Easy to make chili or adding more protein to your diet.

This is a really good product, it is the consistency of fried hamburger. I use it in chili, hamburger helper, really anything that calls for hamburger. I dont think it has a taste on its own, but definitely absorbs what ever you mix it with.

My regular subscribe and save TVP option was unavailable so I was asked to choose a replacement. I looked through several before deciding on this one, and it was the amount you get for the price. I was disappointed to receive the item and read that caramel color and sulphites are ingredients. My usual brand (Anthony's) is JUST textured vegetable protein; no added ingredients. Steer clear of this item.

So far, I like their stuff but there's always room for improvement :)---A similar brand is "Augason Farms".Augason Farms Beef Flavored Vegetarian Meat Substitute 37 oz #10 CanThese are similar except Augason comes in a can & this comes in a plastic.The plastic bag looks like it's re-sealable, which is a good thing!It's also notched on both ends, so that makes it easier to open (without needing scissors)...if that matters =)
