My two year old is crazy about Clifford the big red dog
My almost two year old is crazy about Clifford. This book is a cute way to prepare him for his birthday and for understanding more about parties (and friendships, if he was older). He still likes Clifford and the firefighters more, but this still a common choice for him. We sing happy birthday when the "cakey" page appears and I like that Clifford often messes up... :)

Dated
It's ok, but in the beginning no one shows up to his party and Clifford has to go looking for them!! Okay...well they are ALL at the park, playing with out him and I was like "ugh, my heart". Then they're like "oh our gifts weren't good enough... we'll go home and get them"....okay...then they show up and SOME of there presents AREN'T actually 'good enough'. (No wonder why they didn't want to show up). They laugh at the girl (who looks to be drawn as a person with down syndrome) for getting a jacket too small for Clifford!!! I am like...yikes...THEN they ALSO give away a gift certificate to a groomers to (paraphrase) "someone who might like it more". Like that one isn't AS bad considering they were graceful about accepting it and giving it away discreetly...but still. I mean...am I the only one who thinks that maybe it's dated, and not in the way 'we should talk to our kids about this' way? I told you the issues I have with this book, you can judge for yourself!!
