is it okay to hang in direct sunlight ?

yes it is ok in direct sunlight, my garden is south facing and gets the sun all day, the clock is hung on the side of one of my huts has been there all last summer with no problems

Can I use rechargeable batteries

No,only ordinary Carbon Zinc battery,use Alkaline battery or rechargeable battery may do harm to your clock.

Why can't you use alkaline battery?

Heavy duty Carbon Zinc batteries are more specific for clocks and outside mechanisms Alkaline battery could damage clock so dont use

I just used whatever batteries I had in the cupboard - an AA battery is an AA battery - lol
