Powell Furniture Whitehurst Cedar Chest, White, 40.1/2" x 17.1/3" x 19"

My husband and I bought this for our toddlers toy chest and we are very happy that it’s not the cheap particle board that you see everywhere. It’s real wood and very well made. My husband put it together very quickly and easily. I LOVE that the lid doesn’t just slam shut! It has the spring hinge system to where you have to push it shut so it won’t slam on my little ones fingers! Great purchase and I’m hoping for many years to come with this chest!

For 200 bucks, not sure if there was any value here. First, the box came with no instructions. It isn't rocket science to put items like this together but if you haven't done this before, you will probably be more frustrated than a midget with a yo-yo. Second, the wooden pegs and respective holes must have been sized by the one of the three bears. Some are too big, some are too small, but none are just right. You would think I could swap and find one that fits... nope... I'm not even sure how this is possible.. (Guess it wasn't baby bear). Third, the lid looks like someone used it as a dart board. Both pics are the lid (one is a closeup). Apparently the guy responsible for making the pre-drilled holes was drunk. There was even a small "nail" still in one of the holes. In summary, solid piece of furniture, manufactured by drunk elves and and packaged by the less fortunate.

Easy to assemble with one person. Durable yet light enough to move around.

From the Amazon description I thought I'd only have to put the legs on. Wrong. All the boards and legs are completely separate, nothing was together. The inside of the lid has a repair at one of the predrilled holes for the hing. Not sure how that will stand up to use. If you are looking for a "real" cedar chest this is NOT it. The only cedar is on the inside bottom of the chest. None of the rest of the chest has any cedar. The bit of cedar that is there hardly smells of cedar at all. It is a small chest which will work well for storing several of my bulky wool sweaters and scarfs. Putting this chest together was a challenge! There are 52 bolts and screws! The directions are photo-only with several confusing lines going from screw to hole, it's not clear what to do - extremely confusing. There are NO written directions. Good luck when you attempt to put the chest together. If you accomplish that huge task it is worth the effort because it does look nice in the end. And it is sturdy.

I was so pleased with the quality,the look, the cedar lining. My granddaughter graduation gift. Loved it. Will buy 2 more the others👍

Using this as storage and bench. Broke after about a month of use. Cheap mdf with very short screws. Huge waste of time & money

Only the bottom inside is cedar. Little disappointed! Nice over all, just thought it was all cedar.
