History's Famous Women Pirates: Grace O'Malley, Anne Bonny and Mary Read

Bold, Entertaining and Absolutely Worth Reading
I downloaded this on a fluke. I like strong bold brassy women and I like pirates and I was thrilled by this book. It had documentation that backed up what it said. Actual documentation from all these years ago and it was in a good light even though some parts were sad. Still, it seemed to have been spoken by the women themselves!

Good overview
A good short biography of three most famous women pirates. The most detailed is the section about Grace O'Malley. It also includes original source materail for Read and Bonny - (entries from Life of Pirates). It is a good overview, and sympathic to the women.

A combined view
I would honestly skip "Legendary Pirates: The Life and Legacy of Anne Bonny" and also "Anne Bonny & Mary Read: The Golden Age of Piracy's Most Famous Women", and go straight for "History's Famous Women Pirates: Grace O'Malley, Anne Bonny and Mary Read" as the entire volume is repeated there, although it is intersperced with sections on Mary Read. There is no additional content and no edits between the books, but you get to read up on Anne Bonny, Mary Read and Grace O'Malley. Please note that this book contains several passages lifted straight from "Pirates: A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the Most Notorious Pirates by Charles Johnson". If you already own that, there are no variations. The passages are quoted multiple times and at the back of the book, the entire chapters have been repeated, padding out the number of pages. The author of this book does at time takes several unsupported leaps and doesn't adequately substanciate them, such as what happened to Anne Bonny following her incarceration post trial and pre-(supposed)-execution.It is, however, readable and clearly laid out.If you have already purchased "Legendary Pirates: The Life and Legacy of Anne Bonny" and also "Anne Bonny & Mary Read: The Golden Age of Piracy's Most Famous Women", consider returning them as there is no point.

A bit disappointed....
Although the content of this book is interesting, and I wanted to find out more about women Pirates, the book itself is very thin and it It looks and feels like a computer printed pamphlet, albeit bound with a proper cover. I was expecting a paper back style book with a lot more pages, so the price charged, I think, was very expensive. The illustrations are a copy of a copy of a copy...etc. and are not terribly clear. So, that said, I am keeping it and will continue reading, but....other buyers beware!
