Quality Tools and Well-built Ergonomics
The non-contact voltage tester is a pretty cool little device. I have noticed that it won't do anything for battery-operated devices - but then I didn't really expect it to. Just putting this here for those of us who don't know any better... Even with a powered device like a cell phone charging by USB port from a computer it gives no indications. The functions it has are great. When a battery is installed it is ready to go, and doesn't need anything else but a user to hit the button continuously. The tester will give a little test beep and a flash of the indicator light each time you press the button. The button has a nice tactile click as you press it, and as you release it. As you near a device that has supplied wired power to it, it gives a continuous audible tone and the light stays on. It has a good mold pattern, and very good grip surface, with textures areas. The pen also has a nice handy little pocket clip. This device does not appear to be water resistant, because it has an open pathway to a speaker-output. Do not get it wet. The model I received with this pack was the GVD-3504. Next we'll move to the other device - The GFI-3501 GFCI Outlet Tester: Unfortunately, I don't have any GFCI devices in my home to test this with. But, I was able to try and use it on several outlets in my home. I even tried it on an outlet in a back room that I was fairly-sure had blown in the past, because I remember an arc-flash coming out of it at one point in time and black soot on the outside of the cover, but never used it after that. This tester confirmed that it seemed to be okay and in working order. Now I won't have any reservations about trying to use it again. There are 3 tinted covers for lights on the front of the device, 2 orange and 1 red. The device has a 3-prong US plug on it, and appears to be solid (no cuts or seams on the grounding plug) and not simply bent sheet steel as you see on some cheaper appliances and devices. In the middle of the device there's a nice inward slope, with 4 ridges, for easy grabbing, pulling, and pushing of the device. This really helps with pulling it in and out of stubbornly tight sockets. On both sides of the device there is a reference sheet to what the indicated lights means, and is very helpful to not have to carry around a paper manual that would get destroyed within a week's time with daily use by some trademen. The device seems to be of decent quality, and I look forward to using it more in the future.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do, haven't used any others, but it works well and is affordable
Very happy with this purchase. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I haven't used any others to know if other more pricey brands are better, but it works well and is affordable. I used it several times on a remodel project and garage build at my home, where I did all the wiring myself- tapping into existing circuits and pig-tailing off of existing outlets and such, this set was super handy and I got my money's worth for sure.

Works but a little too sensitive
I have quite a few non-contact testers - this one is right in the middle in terms of quality/usability. Unfortunately, I misplace these all the time so it makes sense for me to have several of them so I can find one easily when I need one. I do have a fluke tester and obviously I like that the most but I can get 10 of THESE for just 1 of those for the same price. This works ok - but I find the sensitivity just a bit too high. That means when trying to find which wires are live - this sounds the alarm very easily and sometimes it is difficult to tell which ones are hot if they are somewhat close together

Saved Me from Injuring Myself
Boy am I glad I purchased this safety kit. I thought after I did buy it that I had probably wasted my money since I could shut off the power to the GFCI outlet that I had to replace. I flipped the circuit breakers to the overhead lights in the room and in the two adjacent rooms and wall outlets so I thought I was good to go, but then I used this non-contact voltage tester. It showed me that the outlet was still hot, and I eventually found the correct circuit breaker to shut off the power to it and confirmed it was off with the voltage tester. Had I not purchased it and tested the outlet, I could have injured myself, as I definitely had to play around with the wires in the box and would have been fooled into thinking the power was off when it was not. One thing about the kit. It says on the package Read Enclosed Instructions Before Use, but alas, no instructions were included in the package. Another customer later kindly pointed me to this link, where the instructions for the GFCI tester can be found and the voltage tester is easy to figure out. http://www.gardnerbender.com/en/resources/instruction-manuals Also the non-contact voltage tester comes without the single AAA battery it requires, so plan to have one on hand. I ended up calling Gardner Bender tech support and they were very helpful and can be reached by phone or email.

Can't build a better mousetrap
Is an absolutely perfect product. Used to do electrical work years ago and this was the exact set that we all used. Bought a new one because I had moved and thought I lost it, exact same after all these years. Ended up finding my old one and it still works perfectly after over 10 years (both testers)

exactly as described.

Works but extremely sensitive
The wall outlet portion of this combo works fine, but the wand tester is almost useless. It does detect voltage but far too sensitive when trying to identify the hot wire in a box. If you simply approach the box, it goes off

I saw the notification came on my phone that my item was delivered! Of course I’m at work, better be there when I get home. You know porch pirates and $@&*. As soon as I’m home I opened it up. Red and black, there’s different ones I’ve owned. But I’ve bought this brand before. It’s great it works great. Last week we were having some electrical problem. I’m a mechanic so who needs instructions. I pop in a AAA battery. Stick it up on the light socket … nothing … what the #%*$. … puzzled I examine it .. hit a couple buttons stick it in … nothing … batteries dead ? Nah it came out of the battery drawer. (Contemplating chin rub). Let’s try and different outlet. 3 outlets later that all say no power I reach under the table to check that one. Beep beep. only difference was I push the button before I got near the socket? Mind blown, lol… Be sure to push the button before entering the magnetic field. Works great. Checked all my outlets. They all got power. Now I know. Do you? Do you really know? If you wanna know buy this tool. You will have the tool to beep your outlets. And comes with the other tool to check the polarity, AC motors and other sensitive electronic equipment do not like to run in reverse polarity… This can damage them leading to premature failure.. it is important to make sure they’re all wired correctly with the right polarity . That’s two orange lights on this tool… I did that too. I must have set of tools.

Good quality electrical voltage testers. I really like the plug in tester and it has a test feature to trip / test GFCI outlets. The no touch wand is good but I trust my multimeter more to check line voltage. These are very handy and convenient tools any homeowner could learn to use quickly. Note: these tools DO NOT GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY. THEY PROVIDE A WORKING GUIDELINE FOR ELECTRICAL REPAIR.
