Perfect for a senior living alone!
We got this for my grandfather who's in his 90s. He's stubborn and won't accept his kids taking care of him but accepted wearing this button as a compromise after he fell and couldn't get up for hours. It requires a land line to function, which is its biggest drawback. It's nice that it calls up to 3 different family members l, moving on to the next one if the current one doesn't pick up. Another annoyance is that he can only talk through it if he's near the phone, which is in the kitchen, meaning many times he pushes it and noone knows how serious it is. He pushes it when he gets lonely or scared sometimes. Things that could be handled by talking him down now require someone to drive over to him. But it's well worth the peace of mind that he's able to get help when he needs it.

No monthly fees!!
It is very staticky but works and serves my purpose. When I leave my mom's condo, my anxiety left me because I know, this will work for my mom!! NO MONTHLY FEES!

Better than nothing
I am glad I bought this product for my mother. She doesn't mind wearing it (much to my surprise). I tested it under a variety of conditions (to mobile phones and land lines, to answering machines, etc.) and it mostly works. However, the feature that allows the person receiving the help call to push a number and talk to the person needing help does not function when the receiving person is using a mobile phone (which for us is the preferred situation). Also, this machine is not very smart. When the help button is pushed it starts outputting the recorded help message over and over again on a fixed time period. If the person answering the phone call happens to pick up the phone during the pause between the fixed period of the message, they will only hear hissing until the message time comes around again. If they pick up in the middle of the message, they will only hear the second half of the message until it repeats after its fixed delay. It would be easy to confuse this with the non-stop robo-marketing calls we receive every day (can't we stop those guys?). One last negative - the product styling is amazingly low in this age of Apple products. The designers apparently still live in the 60's. The plastic moldings are adequate, but not of high quality.Still, it is better than nothing, and I couldn't find anything better. It is better than nothing and it may well help my mother if she should fall. At least, we all feel better that she has it.

Works as expected - Poor audio quality.
Device worked as advertised. Wished it allowed for more phone numbers to be programed. The emergency message when played back was difficult to hear/understand. The speaker phone quality was also poor. Overall the audio quality of this product is subpar. Assistive Technology Services has a better product with better audio and more phone number memory locations.

Surprisingly rugged, won't do without it
My husband wears the wrist unit all the time, even during showers. They last for a couple of years, so cheaper than similar monthly services. It's come in handy many times, as my husband is a fall risk due to Parkinson's.It's actually a phone without a receiver, so pushing the button tells the base unit to call your desired programmed numbers and give a short recorded message. You can program in up to three numbers. Our unit calls my cellphone. If I'm in the kitchen without my phone when he presses the button, I can still hear the distinctive beeping as it dials out, and respond accordingly.I recommend this.

My grandmother was in the hospital and my grandfather fell and was laying face down stuck for about 2 hours until he was able to get enough energy to get himself up. After I found out I got this unit. It taps off a phone line and the way that it calls out is kind of strange but it does the job and works great. Grandma has the watch button and grandpa has the lanyard one.Save a lot of money by not going threw one of those monthly providers.

so far, so good. great range of signal
My father lives in an adjacent house maybe 150 yards away. Set up the base unit in his house, and one of the receivers in mine. We test them monthly. no failures yet.Actually impressed with the range.
