Kattee Crazy-Horse Leather Briefcase 16" Laptop Tote Shoulder Bag

Update: evidently this item is now fulfilled by Amazon, so the long shipping times I experienced should be a thing of the past. I incorrectly stated that there was no padding but there is, it's just minimal padding by my standards for a laptop bag. After about 3 weeks of daily use, I haven't found any issues. It still has that new leather smell. If I could rate it 4.5 stars, I would.Overall opinion: well-built briefcase and high quality leather. However, my shopping experience was disappointing.My first impression was this briefcase is small, not tiny but definitely smaller than I thought and smaller than I'm use to. After using it for two days, I've pretty much adjusted to its size. One side benefit is that I was forced to downsize the junk I carry, which is something I needed to do. My 15" widescreen laptop fits snugly but there is no extra padding nor accommodations for accessories. So it doesn't really meet my definition of a laptop bag. The compartments are more suitable for a thinner MacBook Pro than the bulkier Windows machine like I have.The magnetic flap in the photo looks like a different grade (oilier) leather but on mine it is exactly the same grade leather throughout. And a nice leather it is. The strap, zippers and fixtures are nicely made. Note that the compartment zippers are not double zippers.My main problem is that nowhere in the product page does it say the item ships from China. You really have to scour the seller's page to find a single mention of China. To me, this was done intentionally as most customers, like me, would frown upon the extremely long shipping time using standard shipping. Mine took an excruciating 28 days to be delivered. Yes, I saw the shipping estimate when I placed the order but I've seen long estimates before that turned out to only be a few days in reality. I would not have ordered this if I knew it would actually take 28 days as my old bag was literally coming apart at the seams and I needed a replacement in days, not weeks. Further infuriating me is the fact that I've since signed up for Prime and this is listed as a Prime item with free 2-day shipping. Really? From China? If true, that's a steal. Had I known. Live and learn....

The bag that was delivered was exactly what I expected from the pictures. It is made of quality, distressed leather, reminiscent of Frye boots. It has two main interior compartments (~15.5" long x ~12" high) for storage, each completely separate from the other and each with a zippered opening on the top. One compartment is divided in two and built into the outside wall are two smaller pockets where one can store glass cases and two pen holders. The other main interior compartment has no divider but features a zippered compartment within its interior, which holds a surprisingly large number of odds and ends. All compartments are lined with nylon. The outside of the bag features two large vertical compartments that can store smart phones and the like, over which a large leather flap is secured with magnetic clasps. The flap itself contains a large, nylon lined zippered pocket wiith a rain flap over its zipper. The pocket is great for holding odds and ends that need to be accessed quickly. On the other side of the bag, there is long zippered pocket that is lined with nylon. The bag comes with a shoulder strap. It is here that one improvement could have been made: the strap is limited in how short it can be made because of the pad that rests on one's shoulder; the manufacturer should have added a second shortening buckle on the other side of the shoulder pad. But this is a minor nitpick. It is a great bag.

So far so good. Had a similar one in the past for law school that was smaller and that I loved; unfortunately that one didn't have great durability, so I'll do my best to update this over time to see if this one does better. The double zippered compartments make life easier for carrying a laptop and accessories in one compartment and also sensitive documents in the other and keeping them from bending. Not an overly large bag either, which is great.

I had previously purchased a well known name-brand leather briefcase for approx $300 and after 18 months of use, the zippers tore apart and the warranty was only good for 12 months. I bought this bag to replace it, as I have purchased other Kattee bags (canvas camera bags) before and they have been of high quality.So far, so good with this bag. I treated it several times with Fiebings Mink Oil Paste that I got from Amazon to soften it, condition it and waterproof it. I have been using it every day for work for about 3 weeks now and for the price, this is good quality. Heavy duty, strong stitching, the zippers seem to be thicker and stronger than the other bag I mentioned above.I will try to remember to update this review after 5 or 6 months of continuous use and travel for work and let you know how it has been holding up. For now, though, 5 stars for the price and quality that you will be getting.

I have carried this bag every day to work for the past year and a half. I love it. The only bad thing that I can say is that the zipper on the main compartment wore out prematurely, which is a shame because one of the reasons that I bought the bag was because of the metal zippers. I think part of it is due to the front flap being a little heavy and of course, I added stuff to that compartment which weighed it down even more. Other then that there is virtually no wear to the bag after a year and a half except the leather has aged and patinaed which is really nice. I would have rated it a soild 5 stars if not for the zipper issue. This is a good quality bag. The leather is thick but soft not stiff. It carries a laptop and all the accessories, plus files, pens, and misc.

I am So glad I bought this for work. It is so pretty, professional, durable, and holds more than enough.

Very pleasantly surprised. Huge capacity for storage and very strongly built. I work in the IT industry and this bag carries everything I would need for my job. I have more than enough space for laptop, tablet, chargers, powerbank, cables, tools, attachments, stationary and other paraphernalia.The leather is "full grain" which is very tough. The zippers, stitching, clasps and lining all appear to be heavy-duty.You get all this for no more than the price of a pair of leather shoes? Amazing indeed!

I just love this bag.. its exactly as I hoped it would be (exactly like in the pictures). I get lots of positive comments, but most importantly (to me) I feel like I am walking around with a quality piece of kit on my shoulder - which is a lot to do with the fact that I work in sales and it is all about image.Probably the only thing I''d change is to make the shoulder strap all leather - but that is a very minor gripe.

A very cool looking bag. Many compliments received. However, I was expecting a softer leather but being a weighter leather you would need a bomb to damage this leather bag.Everything is as, explained or shown before purchasing. Even without carrying a laptop in the bag, it's very heavy so if you are going to be out for a day I would advise to use the to handles rather than the shoulder strap. Otherwise an excellent bag. Well worth the price.

Awesome leather bag. Great value. Can't wait till it gets warn in a bit and softens.
