I love chestnut pure. I am Hungarian, and chestnut pure is very popular there; it usually comes in a block that you can shred and eat it with whipped cream.I cannot find that kind anywhere. So I thought I would give this a try.Big disappointment though. It barely tastes like chestnuts, it is basically just sugar with a bit of flavor to it. I'll have to find a recipe to make something with it, but even in a cake it would be too sweet.

I am so glad I found this! I have been trying to find the distinct flavor of a dish I had in Europe a very long time ago and this was exactly it. I am so surprised this isn't more popular here in the USA - it's an absolutely amazing flavor profile. I haven't tried any of the other brands of Chestnut Puree/Spreads so I can't comment how this stacks up but I will agree with one of the other reviews that calls this perhaps a bit too sweet. It is perhaps a bit sweeter than I recall, but it is not sweet in the typical American 'too much corn syrup way', so it does not bother me. It's nice. I will get more
