Great Blade Protector.
I bought this to house my 6.7 inch Victorinox Santoku. It's made of durable plastic and holds the blade snuggly. Some customers have complained that the rubber pads that hold the blade in place leaves a "stain". They do not! They leave a small outline on the stainless steel finish that easily wipes off. This is an excellent accessory if you need to transport your knife or just to keep it pristine. And most importantly, protects you from getting an accidental cut.Highly recommend.

Excellent to protect my chef knives.
I purchased two of these to protect my two very pricey chef knives. I am VERY satisfied with this product and am very pleased that I decided to experiment and try it. One of my chef knives is used just about on a daily basis. This means that I snap the BladeSafe open remove/re-insert my chef knife almost every single day. If it were not almost effortless, it would have been a failed experiment. However, it performs the job I desired (protect the blade) and it is very practical in that it takes about one second to either get the knife out or re-insert the knife when finished. The 'idea' was to completely avoid having to store my knives in one of my kitchen drawers. I wanted to have my chef knife 'out' on my kitchen counter inside of my kitchen utensil crock. This is exactly what I accomplished with the BladeSafe. Of course, if you prefer to store your knives in a drawer, the BladeSafe would provide exactly the same protection for your knife. I highly recommend this product.UPDATE ON MY ORIGINAL REVIEW - APRIL 22, 2013These have resulted as one of the best buys EVER! Easy to use, easy to open, easy to close. When the knives are in the protector I just place them in my utensil crock along with other pieces that I use either daily or frequently. I highly recommend them.

Safe and Durable
I like that when putting my very sharp Wusthof Classic Chef Knife into it I can just lay it in the "clam shell type" case and close it. My hand never comes close to the blade. The conventional sheaths however I was afraid if I slip trying to insert it into the narrow opening it might cut my hand that is holding it. It also fits my 8 inch blade perfectly. Great product for the price!

Nice protection for my new kitchen knives
Love these, have 6 or 7 of them for my new kitchen knives. Keeps the edge sharp and no worry about slicing your hand when you reach in the drawer to get a knife.

Great knife protection, strange residue
I needed a knife guard that met three criteria: keeps a knife safe from banging against anything else in the drawer, guard itself does not damage the knife, and must travel well.Originally bought one of these to go along with a Fibrox chef's knife a few years ago. I have since purchased two more of these knife protectors as they meet and exceed my initial three criteria.I travel a lot with my knives. This Victorinox knife guard has rubber pads on the inside of the guard that keeps the blade snug and in place. The two latches lock and unlock easily and provide very clear tactile and audible feedback on use. Overall an ideal design.I eventually tried using the guard on my other knives (a 5" santoku and a 6" nakiri). Since they both fit so well I went ahead and bought an additional pair of these Victorinox guards. The only thing keeping me from giving this a total 5 stars is that the rubber pads on the inside of the case (the ones that hold the blade in place) leave a visible residue on the knives. I've cleaned the guards several times now so I'm confident the residue is not from packaging or manufacturing at this point so I think it must be the material of the pads themselves. The residue is minor, barely noticeable, and washes off easily but I wonder how long the pads will last if they're rubbing off like this. Will update this review if anything of note occurs.

Pesky Poltergeist Proof Protection
Are you troubled by dark spirits invading your home and slinging your fine cutlery at you from across the kitchen? Well, we all know how annoying that can be. (Been there, got the T-Shirt). If you are having those kinds of problems, I highly recommend this product. They may be able to get the knife out of the drawer and throw it at you, but it will just fall harmlessly to the floor, because they just can''t get these fine sheaths off. And no more having to re-sharpen all your knives every time your unwanted spectral guests fling a fit !These well made guards fit a variety of non-Victorinox blades quite well, and are very secure. The only downsides are the extra step of opening up the case to use the blade, and the fact that they are slightly bulky. Given the inconvenience of going to the emergency room for stitches when someone has an accidental encounter with a truly sharp blade, and the protection these guards provide from damage to the keen edge on a properly sharpened knife, those drawbacks are minor indeed. These guards were also favorably reviewed by Cook's Illustrated, and you know how picky they are. If you have very sharp knives in your drawers, you should order a complete set of these guards. Your hands will thank you. Your "haints" however, will be most unhappy.

Perfect fit for 8 inch chef knife
I bought this for my 8 inch Victorinox Fibrox Chef's knife and just as it is to be expected they fit like a glove, and more importantly, the knife do not budge at all inside of it.Yes, the rubber pieces that hold the blade in place leave a small print in the blade that, so far, I have been able to clear without any effort. But even if that was not the case, I rather have my knife secure and well protected than a small stain on the blade.

Nice holders!
These clamp down on the blade and keep it nice and safe while traveling or even in drawers. Make sure to dry the blade completely before storing in these.
