Great tank
Great tank. I mostly use it when I travel into California, so that I don't pay those insanely gas prices. Also on some of my ranch equipment. Of course the gravity flow is worthless if you don't have it high enough. So I connected a 12v motor and a fuel filter, and it works awesome. No muss, no fuss, and no leaks or spills. Sorry but the photos aren't the greatest, but perhaps it shows kind of an idea. It was packaged great. No dents on delivery. I'm happy with my little setup

John Dow Company A+ Customer Service
I recently purchased a used John Dow 15gallon gravity fed fuel tank through Amazon. The tank I purchased was a return and which I received a $70.00 dollar discount. All fine and good. When the tank arrived from Amazon it didn’t have a fuel cap.so I ordered one from Amazon for $27.00. That cut into my "buy used" value. Having a 200 gallon bulk fuel tank and with diesel prices at $6.00 plus a gallon, I didn;'t want to drop $1,200.00 plus for fuel to mow horse pasture. Rather I though I would use the 15gallon John Dow. Here is the reason for my negative review. With the fuel tank sitting on the back of a Ford flatbed farm truck, it took almost a hour to fuel a 15 gallon tank. Without the John Dow fuel tank being elivated well above the tractor fuel inlet, fuel will only trickle out. Now for the GOOD. I returned the John Dow tank to Amazon and they refunded my expense for both the tank and the missing fuel cap. Today, I see the UPS driver at my gate. He walks up the drive carrying a brand new John Dow fuel tank. Brand new, from John Dow. Now that is some quality Customer Service. I didn’t expect a new fuel tank. I was simply stating that for "my particular application" this 15 gallon tank does not work. I will be calling John Dow tomorrow for a return authorization of this new tank that I "was NOT CHARGED FOR”. I greatly appreciate the John Dow Company trying to do a customer right. In the future, if I can utilize a John Dow product, I will certainly purchase their products. Thank you John Dow Company for your quality, above and beyond Customer Service. Well done.

Packaging
Only reason I gave 4 stare is because it arrived with a ripped open box and the tank is dented on the end. I realize thats from delivery but it should come in much better packaging. I saw other buyers complaining about receiving it damaged too. Seems very well built and very solid with solid parts. I haven't used it yet though maybe I'll update if i remember.

Love this tank
Love this tank. I bought this tank because I wanted gravity feed and didn't want to mess with a pump. Can fit about 14 gallons of gas in the tank. Wish they had this in a 25 or 30 gallon size. I built a cart for this to sit on so that it will pour into my zero turn and side by sides. No problems. No leaks. Only complaint is the port is not directly on the bottom so tank needs to be tilted to get all the fuel out.

Happy
Pleased…. Held right under 15 gallons. No leaks hose works perfectly. Top left handle was a bit bent shipping from China but all good. Saves me trips for gas! Unscrew the cap a turn or two to allow air to replace the fuel when fueling a machine. When close to full I closed the valve then drained all gas in the hose--quick and easy. Fast flow rate and very pleased.

Some issues, though works ok.
Followup: 5 years later and no issues with tank or hose. See last picture for dirty yet functional tank. Had a small dent from shipping. Nothing I felt like sending it back for though. They have the feet and handles misaligned compared to the hose drain, so the drain isn't at the very bottom. This means I'll need to tilt it to get the last bit of gas out. That lack of quality control is more annoying than the dent. Before using it the first time I welded bolts to one end so I could mount some Harbor Freight tires. Should make it easier to move once it's full and weighs 115 lbs. I cut off the nozzle holder and welded to the other end, as the tires would block that. Would have been nice to have this as a factory option, though I know this would have cost more. As others have noted, it doesn't seem to really hold 15 gal. I haven't put stand-offs opposite the tires (yet), so it's at an angle and doesn't hold as much as it could. Even so, I was only able to get in 13 gal. With it level I imagine I could get in 1 more gal, which is what people have been saying; about 14 gal. Just guessing, but the only way I can think of getting 15 gal in is maybe they count the fuel which could be held in the hose. But I'm not sure even that would be a gallon, and I would be leary of transporting it with the hose filled. For the price it still seems the best deal around. Just wish the quality was a little better. Update: Added video to show pour rate, since that has been a complaint. Though slow it seems about as expected for gravity feed. Also added a picture with standoffs to level tank with the wheels I attached. I have not yet seen debris in the fuel that people have mentioned, though I'd expect to only see that when the gas gets towards the bottom, which it isn't yet.

Nice tanks, BUT
Although this tank is DOT approved, the tank has a sticker that says to place the tank on the ground to fill it. At 14-15 gallons that is over 100 lbs. That's a 2 man lift since that's too much weight for most healthy men to lift alone They give you mounting hardware to mount it too a trailer, but is that an approved method? If mounted on a trailer that's attached to a truck, the tank would be at the same ground potential as the truck. Why wouldn't it be legal to pump directly into the tank if hard mounted on a trailer frame? Too many questions. I purchased a lifting mechanism to lift the tanks into my pickup bed.

I haven't even put it together yet and had the gas cap fall out of the opened box in the back of my truck; I didn't notice and threw it in the dump without recognizing what it was...I phoned the vendor and they shipped me one right away for $8. SO IMPRESSED WITH THE HELP AND FRIENDLINESS; my goof up and the guys were so helpful. THANK YOU

Seems to be good quality. Very slow so I use air to help fuel move.
