The styrafoam is molded to fit the glass shade exactly and there's a piece that is molded to fit inside the glass shade. At first I thought the shade had cracks in it, but it's actually made to look like old glass with swirls in it.I was in a store the other day where most of the lights displayed were $1,000 and up. Way up. This light could be among those lights with a $1,000 price tag and it wouldn't have looked out of place. Not that I would have paid that much for it, but I wouldn't have bought any of those overpriced lights. There were lights there that looked like they were worth thousands of dollars, but those were spectacular and weren't among the ones like this one that most sane people would put in their bathrooms, hallways, or laundry rooms.So, if you want a ceiling light that's in style in every way, but not expensive in any way, this fits the ticket.
