Disasters at Sea: A Visual History of Infamous Shipwrecks by Mechem, Liz (2014) Paperback

Well-written with a 2-page spread on each shipwreck. My young son is interested in shipwrecks so we are reading about one each night. Some are too tragic to read every detail (terrible human suffering is part of the truth of these disasters) but we look forward to having this on the shelf to go back to over the years as he's ready for more of the history. These are fascinating stories that often have me sneaking in some time to read more. Color photos, illustrations and maps really bring these stories to life. Our family is really enjoying this book.

Bought this book to read to my 5 year old son that likes hearing stories about shipwrecks after learning about the titanic. Includes pretty much every famous shipwreck i've heard of and a bunch more. It's written for adults, but the stories can be read to kids and there are many pictures. Highly recommend this book

This overview of many shipwrecks are grouped together by similarities such as place, cause, and vessel. Each chapter includes wrecks from ancient history and modern times. If you’re interested in sea stories this book includes many events that have their tales told in great detail elsewhere.

Love to read about treasures buried in the ocean. Makes me want to go on an under water expedition.Jaye D

A short information about every disaster, but a broad selection and pages full of illustrations and photographies make this book both interesting and entertaining.
