Works Perfectly
I’m assuming folks that had issues were trying to use a tip over size 13mm, which it clearly states won’t work.It worked perfectly for me, I’m very happy with it.

Handy if you hit hard or have a Slow (soft) to Medium tip
I have had a Kamui Black Medium tip on my main playing cue for 2 years and break with it frequently - every couple months this guy comes in handy for shaving off any slight mushrooming that happens (Kamui tips mushroom much less than most other brands).Simple and easy to use but one caveat - I wish the back-end shaper had more of a dime radius, as it's a bit flat for my personal preference...

Fantastic. Just as advertised and super easy to use!
FANTASTIC! I received this today and fixed 5 cue tips in about a minute from a majorly mushroomed tip to some that just needed shaped. This tool is worth every penny! If you shoot pool regularly, buy this TODAY!

works but its just another cheap plastic gadget.
as a machinist I expect a higher than average quality when it comes to "tools" that I buy. I bought this thinking it might be black anodized aluminum but alas I was disappointed to find its cheap plastic like so many other things these days. it does work, but its less than ideal. I could make one of far better quality but that takes time and as a casual player its simply not worth it for as often as I will use it.

Don't buy if you are going to do a 14MM tip replacement
I just found this out the hard way. Bought it to shape a new Kamui I installed on my stick. The 14MM tip simply will not fit. So I used another tool I already owned to start the trimming process ... but once I was finally able to get the tip into this tool, I found out that it's not deep enough to trim all the way down on the new tip (i.e. the tip itself is too tall for the cutter to get down to where the ferule and the tip meet). I tried using the other end to shape the tip and then shave it some more, and it still doesn't work.I did use it on my break stick which has an older tip. It did trim the mushroom on that well and shaped it well.Don't buy this if you intend to use it to shape a new tip. It appears to work ok on existing 13MM tips. I'm keeping it, but will need to find something else to help me install the next tip.

and is sturdy to do the jobs of harder to cut tips
It fits and cuts as it should, and is sturdy to do the jobs of harder to cut tips. I however would suggest to just get the Mushroom grazer tip tool, as it gives much better control over your cutting. This one works well for a beginner though.

Poor design!
I am not usually a one star review type person because I feel like that if an item doesn't work for me, that doesn't mean it might not work good for someone else. This item gets one star from me because it is simply JUNK! The fatal flaw is that there is no adjustability in this tool. I bought this tool to trim tips and heres the problems with using it this way without adjustability. The side of the tool used to trim the tip has a blade recessed where the tip of your cue slides into the tool and the cutting edge of the blade sits against the tip. The idea is that if you have less life on your tip you pull the tip out a bit to prevent scraping your ferrule. Here's the problem though; a brand new tip is too long for the cutting edge to make contact with the entire tip. I thought I could at least trim the mushroom off the tip without trimming the base of the tip however when I tried this, the tool made a hideous groove/ring around the center of the tip. I turned the tool around and figured I would at least try to form the tip but this proved problematic as well. there is a razor blade inside the tool forming an angle that scrapes the end of the tip forming a nickel pattern. I tried this however all the blade did was chew up my tip, BADLY! I will also confirm what another reviewer said about 14mm tips; if you want to trim a 14mm tip down to 13 mm forget it because the 14mm tip will not fit in the tool. I guess you could trip a bit of the tip by cutting it with a knife and then smooth it out with the device but this wouldn't work because the tool would only trim half the length of the new tip. If you wanted to grind half your new tip away then this tool would probably work great. This tool has virtually NO value to me. Maybe mine was defective, but even if that's the case there needs to be bad reviews due to the chance of getting a bad device. Thank god Amazon is awesome and takes the item back without a problem and pays for all the shipping and makes the return effortless!
