12" Brass Porthole Window: Maritime and Nautical Decor

Looks great on our nautical barn door. Good quality.

We used this to replace a retired Melbourne Tram headlight. Fantastic quality. Not for constant opening and closing but to be used as a stagnant feature.

So, I bought this porthole as a cover for a unique laundry chute in my bedroom. Considering the price, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is one heavy-duty piece of brass hardware. The weight of the piece is good, it doesn't feel flimsy at all. The glass is set in with little metal brackets, and seems well secured. There is quite a bit of wiggle in the hinge (they are two cast pieces that don't fit together very tightly), but for my purposes this wasn't much of a problem. The clamps tighten really nicely, and hold the cover securely. Overall, a good quality piece for not much money. I would recommend this item to anyone.

Was supprised to find these on sale at this price, (almost half off)Have not installed yet but items seem to be of good construction and a nice finish on the brass and functional hardware.Plan to use these for accent lighting.

Awesome nautical nostalgia

The window would be a fine frame for the nautical buff but it did not suit my bill for a working porthole. I returned it to the seller.

This 11" brass porthole window arrived safely very well packaged with hardboard and polystyrene and bubble wrap.It is good quality heavy brass, with one hinge made from brass screws, and two screw clamps to close the window, also in brass. The glass is attached with 6 small screw clamps that clamp the glass through a 1/4" black rubber ring. This will allow the glass to be replaced easily. There are three screw holes in the frame area to mount the porthole to a surface. Three brass screws are supplied. There is a significant gap between the window element and the frame when closed (1/4"), but it is possible that some kind of rubber ring could be added to make it a bit more air/ water tight. We are using the porthole in an indoor location and it is perfect for our use.

It's OK and I finally got it up, but the clasps and the hinge were cheep and needed fixing.I wouldn't recommend this item.
