Good read
This is the third book in the Alaskan Courage series about the McKenna siblings. I think this book could be read as a stand-alone but I'd recommend at least reading the previous book, Shattered (Alaskan Courage Book #2): Volume 2 , because that is where Darcy and Gage's story actually begins. Five months after Darcy St. James left Yancey, Alaska---and her affections for Gage McKenna---behind, she returns to work as a reporter for a cruise ship. Actually, Darcy took the job because her undercover reporter-friend, Abby, asked for her help in uncovering a major story. As soon as Darcy joins the cruise, Abby vanishes under suspicious circumstances and Darcy is determined to find out the truth. Meanwhile, five months hasn't made Gage forget Darcy but he's determined not to fall for an ambitious woman again. He takes a job leading adventure excursions for cruise ship passengers for a few days of fun and adventure. Of course, Gage and Darcy meet again and their attraction is renewed. Although Gage is wary of Darcy's methods to uncover what happened to Abby and why, he decides to help her. I liked that this mystery/crime was more plausible than the mysteries from the first 2 books in the series because this type of crime still occurs, sadly. However, the romance between Gage and Darcy was not as interesting as in the previous book. They did not seem to have quite the same level of chemistry and banter. The pace of the book was a little slower but it speeds up towards the end. It was nice to read about Gage overcoming his anger towards God over his son's death. There was a secondary storyline between family friend, Jake, and Gage's sister, Kayden. I would have liked to see more of their interactions. It seems like they didn't have many actual conversations between them. Once the truth of Jake's past is revealed, Kayden does a 180 degree turnaround. She was soooo mean to Jake in the first 2 books that I did not like her character very much and didn't understand why Jake was attracted to her. I guess that's what book 4, Silenced (Alaskan Courage Book #4): Volume 4 , is for! Overall, although this book was not quite up to the same level as the first 2, I still enjoy reading about the McKenna family and hope Kayden redeems herself in the next book!

Alaskan Courage #3
This is the third book in this series. The entire series thus far consists of Submerged, Shattered, and the fourth book is Silenced.Darcy has been called back into the world of undercover investigative reporting by her friend and former partner, Abby. She's on to something big and frightening on the Alaskan cruise she's working on. Darcy has taken a job writing about the cruise ship's excursions to help Abby, but before Darcy can find out what her friend suspects, Abby disappears and there's no sign of her. Darcy feels like something bad has happened, but she's having problems getting any answers.Gage isn't fond of what Darcy is up to, but he won't blow her cover. He's running the excursions and is torn between how he feels about Darcy and how he feels about what she does. His heart's been battered and he's not sure he wants to open it up to Darcy. The problem is, the further she digs, the more dangerous the quest gets. There's more going on than even they suspect and there's more at stake than they can imagine. As with the other books I've read in this series, I couldn't put it down. I love the way the author sets up the next book by letting you meet and care about the characters so that you just can't wait to pick up the next one.I've read these out of order. I still haven't been able to read the second book, Shattered, but I hope to sometime in the future. I think it's possible to read them out of order, I have been, but I wish I had started this series with the first one and been able to read them in order. With the way the next book is set up, you're going to enjoy them more if you read them in order. This author is really talented and I'm glad I found her books! The fifth book in the series, Sabotaged, is coming out in January. I'm looking forward to it!

Another page turner
The third novel in Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series, Stranded, is a great addition to Submerged and Shattered. The story continues the saga of the McKenna siblings, focusing on big brother Gage. Darcy, a former investigative reporter, gets pulled into an undercover operation by her former partner, who promptly disappears. Left on her own to solve the mystery of her friend's whereabouts, Darcy inadvertently involves her friends the McKennas, and Gage realizes that he isn't willing or able to look the other way as Darcy walks headfirst into danger. Soon, the two must work together to solve the mysterious disappearance of women from cruise ships in Alaska.I flew through this book in record time, reading well into the night and fighting drooping eyes just to read one more page. I was a little sad that I figured out the "whodunnit" before the characters, but I always appreciate an author willing to give the reader all the clues they need to figure it out, rather than holding some back and then revealing the key clue only at the end. So kudos to Pettrey for giving the reader a chance.I appreciate that Darcy, as a heroine, she is spunky, but believable. She doesn't wait around to be rescued, but she understands the need to depend on those she trusts. And Gage was likable and imperfect. I love that Pettrey ties in the other family members -- coming from a pretty tight-knit family, I know how important siblings really are. In this novel, the reader gets a glimpse into the lives of Kayden McKenna and Jake, who are featured in the fourth book in the series. I have to say, though, I'm not a big fan of Kayden and I hope the next novel changes my mind about her...Stranded wasn't my favorite of the series so far, but it was a page turner and I did enjoy it very much. I have been a long-time fan of Pettrey's friend, Dee Henderson, and I would highly recommend Pettrey to any of Henderson's readers. The style of mystery and suspense with heart and faith is a unique find amid inspirational fiction.

Oh dear
another good story, suffocated by the authors religious drive. Sad really these books should be lPublished with a warning. I have a bible, I do not need someone to tell me about God in a book I have unwittingly purchased as a novel

Quite Nice
I read the final book in the Dani Pettrey series. I liked the story! But the characters I found a little unbelievable at times. For instance kayaking mr muscle who likes to cook, really? If you read the others read this and you'll like the final instalment, but I still think the stories of these rather incredible siblings is unfinished.
