Another quality set of DR strings
I restrung my CLF GL L-2500 with the DR FAT BEAM 45's to replace the original D'Addario EXL170 45's. The main difference in tone is the pronounced bite within the midrange which lends to a very natural jazz bass sound in passive mode (bridge pos.) and a nice, gritty P-bass sound in passive mode (neck pos.) So, if you need more "bite" to help you cut through the mix, especially in D.I. mode, FAT BEAMS are not a bad place to start. Also, there is a consistent string to string tension, most notably with the B string, an improvement over the D'Adarrio's. I do like this DR set for finger-style, plectrum, and slap bass. Very smooth feel, responds well to legato and nuanced voicings, as well as, more aggressive types of playing.Lastly, these, like most DR sets will keep their tension and high end "shimmy" at least twice as long as other round wound sets that I have tried.

Best Strings I've ever used!
They're still very new on my bass, but they are perfect! I hope they last a while because they are the best strings I've ever used. Even tone and volume over all 5 strings, bright and still solid bottom end. I couldn't be happier. These will definately be my string of choice from now on!

Like butter. My fingers want to play these strings
These are the real deal if you want that clear, bright, high definition in your tone but still sound smooth. Somehow these strings do that. Hands down the easiest strings to play on. Like butter. My fingers want to play these strings. No resistance. I use these on my Warwick, but also plan on putting them on my Marcus Miller Fender Jazz. I think that these will be better at achieving that original Marcus Miller tone than even the Marcus Miller Dunlops I have on that bass right now. I think the Fat Beams are better in my opinion, not that the Dunlops are not great. I think the big difference is playability. Purely a pleasure to play!!!

The bass an Ibanez SR505 now sounds like something much more high-end
In one word WOW! I have been playing Bass for more than 25 years all types of music. I have tried all types of strings. Rotosound, GHS Boomers etc. First time trying DR, I tried DR Hi-Beams and was Impressed. Having several basses I decided to restring them all but decided on Fat-Beams. these strings completely transformed my sound. The bass an Ibanez SR505 now sounds like something much more high-end. I could not be happier with these strings. It is going to very hard to convince me that there is a better string out there. DR's are my bass strings of choice going forward and I highly recommend that you give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

DR strings last longer than most strings, which is a good thing for your pocket book.
I’ve used DR strings for years, and they’ve never disappointed. Fat Beams are my favorite in terms of overall performance and balance between the modern and vintage tones. They always help the bass cut through the mix at high volumes. From bright funk to warm and mellow tones, these strings cover it all.

Unique tone at first, then has a tapewound-like tone
These had a unique zing to its sound when first installed. It lacked beef on my jazz bass but I just let it be. Then after 2, 3 weeks of barely playing on them, the zing was gone. It sounded thuddy and boring on my jazz bass so I took them off. Later I thought, "You know, they kind of have a tapewound sort of tone." So I installed them on my P-bass and sure enough, it's like they came back to life again. Another reviewer mentioned how these have a tapewound-like quality after a few weeks. So be aware of it before purchasing.

Spoiled Rotten-Awesome Strings!
I will not use another set of strings on my 5 String custom built Rybski. They are easy on the fingers and perfect for Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues and Fusion. The low B responds with the clarity and resonance of a piano string. When slapping, the tones are studio quality no matter what rig you're playing through. I'm spoiled rotten!

Bang for your buck
I needed some new strings and wanted to try something new. I bought these in a recommendation and just wanted to try these out for a bit. They sound really great. They offer a combination of brightness and still offer that needed low end that is needed. Don’t hesitate to buy!!!
