JOANNA LUMLEY'S GREEK ODYSSEY

Fantastic and very personal journey...It feels like you are traveling right along side her. Ms. Lumley is very easy to watch and to listen to. I enjoyed this video even ;more because I have been to Greece,but Ms. Lumley takes you places you could not visit easily on your own. This is not a standard "How To" or Travel Video. If you want that ---then nobody does those better than Rick Steves. This is\very personal ,the locations very selective and the experiences attempt to give more indepth insights into the culture. The photography is gorgeous and so is the music that accompanies the video. I loved every minute of it and highly recommend it-especially to those who have already been to Greece. If not, it will whet your appetite to go there!!

I have always been a big fan of Joanna Lumley with her role on Absolutely Fabulous. As I watched this amazing video I had tears of joy in my eyes. I have been going to Greece since I was fifteen. My heritage is Greek. And I have watched many videos. This is the absolute best. Her commentary is incredible. I learned so much. Things I never knew! An example is a her visit to a particular village where people communicate by whistling to one another!Whether you are traveling to Greece for the first time or you are a yearly visitor , I highly recommend this video. For someone you know who is in love with Greece, is of Greek heritage this video makes an excellent gift.

The reason we enjoyed this so much was because she shows places and events which we wanted to know more about in a clear and distinct manner. We felt that we were visiting the area in question, both up close and personally, while she interviewed folk living in that particular area who explain what was being done and why they felt it was important.Well work every penny of the purchase price as well as every moment of the time we spent watching it.

She hits all of the historical venues which require no words to create interest. She does an adequate job in describing the settings but is light on knowledge. Sights are solid, but commentary weak.We have qued up her Egypt travels and expect a similar experience.

Joanna, alluring voice and grand scenery makes for a luxurious trip. The film is enjoyable. A bit annoyed by her view of the gods and no mention of the unknown God is curious. Of course by all means the great But very broken Acropolis and no mention of the large nearby marble Mars Hill or anything about it...still curiously odd.

I just love Joanna Lumley. A funny wonderful actress and a great humanitarian. This series is not your typical travel show. Ms. Lumley takes you to meet real people and explore their lives without hype. She travels to offbeat places as well as the famous sites. I learned so much from watching these shows. HIGHLY recommend.

Taking a journey with Joanna Lumley is a very good experience because she puts much of herself into presenting a site in a sensitive manner. I enjoyed every minute of this series and wish she would make more . I very much appreciated the closed captions so I could follow every word.

Received this yesterday. Have just finished watching it. It is absolutely enthralling, and a joy to watch! We see Joanna as she travels to Mount Olympus, Corfu, and the surrounding islands. She deals with the history very well, and makes the whole thing interesting by putting her mark on the documentary. Subtitles are very helpful. It makes one want to explore the country further. I now have all the Joanna Lumley Travels on DVD. and have ordered "Joanna Lumley's India" on DVD (not out yet, but will be) to complete the set. Well done Joanna. Keep it up!

I have now watched all of the Joanna Lumley series and enjoyed all of them. She has a natural charm, an appreciation of everything she discovers, and everyone she meets. I had no idea that Greece was so vast. There was a variety of topics, some serious, some amusing but always entertaining. Greece has had such a chequered existence regarding conflict and territorial disputes, but also a wealth of ancient history, architecture, classical literature and science. As always, we see a lot of Miss Lumley, but she brings a warmth and humour to her travels, and occasionally mentions her own past life, making her journey even more personal. I hope that she will do more in this fascinating series.

I loved watching this dvd.....but when I tried to replay with a friend on another occasion, it wouldn’t play. But Amazon were brilliant and replaced it very promptly without any issues. Thank you Amazon!

Great documentary- like taking a mini break to Greece. Perfect viewing for a rainy evening- with a glass of wine and some glossy olives.

I bought this just because I loved the TV series and wanted to see it again. Joanna is so lovely and respectful of some of the wacky ways of the Greeks but having Greek family I just related to it, but mainly as a lover of Greece and anything Greek it was the perfect gift to buy myself.
