Canon CLI-221 Genuine Gray Ink Tank, Compatible with MP980, and MP990 Printers

Amazon does offer the lowest price on the Canon CLI ink cartridges. But the price for these inks, IMO, are still pretty high, especially considering the size of the cartridges. If MP980's CLI and PGI ink costs decrease in the future (hopefully real soon!), then the rating would definitely increase to 5 stars.Thank you Amazon reviewers for all your comments. Because I thoroughly reviewed these products (online and in-store) and the associated commentaries, I now know that it's best to order these inks through Amazon (until some other seller offers lower pricing). I will also be sure to keep extra inks on hand;so I never have to experience down-time with my MP980.I love the Canon PIXMA MP980, and knew beforehand what to expect as far as print quality and associated costs. So I have no complaints about the printer itself (other than its costly inks). But, I do think one gets what they pay for, and I do tend to go for better quality items.Thank you Amazon and Amazon Reviewers.

Outside of Amazon or Canon directly, hard to find the grey ink for my Canon all-in-one MP980. The smart marketing folks at Canon engineered their printers so that, if any one or more ink containers run dry, the MP980 is useless, will not even scan! Yes, for printing the Canon 221 inks are very good quality. However, even printing only b&w, the various color mysteriously run out. I put 5 stars for the "value" to appreciate Amazon's pricing, not to praise Canon's steep prices.

I’m sure that this “gray” ink cartridge is just fine and will fit into my Canon printer, but it’s not the color I meant to order. I needed “black” but somehow I accidentally selected gray. My frustration is going to focus on my inability to exchange one for the other online in my Amazon account. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the exchange process to select the black from either my wish list wish list or from items in my cart. I realize this review is actually a complaint for an error I made, but Amazon, it has to easier to exchange an item ordered by mistake.

Most brand-name printer ink is way overpriced, and this is no exception. If you use it up quickly, it's expensive. If you let it sit in the printer and evaporate, it's expensive. Still, it does the job and doesn't destroy the printer, which ink made by secondary mfrs can do. So I buy it. Why from Amazon? It's a tiny bit cheaper from Amazon than it is from other vendors I looked into, and so far it's arrived quickly and reliably.

My Canon printer uses separate colors. I did not realize when I bought it that the Gray ink was so hard to get. I cannot find it in stores and only buy it here at Amazon. The printer will not work if any of the colors are empty. A real pain when the gray runs out.So, for photographers looking for the best mix of color on their prints, this Gray may be a wonderful thing. For me, it's just hard to find and I really cannot tell the difference in the prints from the Canon or my HP printers. The vendor who shipped the ink was wonderful. Product arrived quickly.

It seems that grey ink can be a headache to find, but look no further! Amazon has your back! It's always great to order extra.This ink worked as it was supposed to and I am happy with it.If you printing photographs I also recommend this ink to no-name ink because it will help your pictures last longer. It has sun protection and even if you for some reason put a picture in water, the quality will stay. Try it at home!

Haven't used it yet but delivery was prompt and as scheduled. Have used it before and is fine. The only problem is the ink doesn't last long enough. The Canon printer eats up ink like crazy and each color ends at a different time so you are constantly being warned to change one of your cartridges That is really annoying.

Original canon product. Works great at a slightly better price than locally available products. Only rarely available locally, and even online.
